I think this is a great car, and jeremy clarkson liked it too, hell he even called it "practical". not to mention the drifting aspect of the car too

An unbiased ford supporter... a very rare commodity

Personally I love the GTO, but in it's HSV form, not too keen on the body changes Pontiac chose to apply. (You can find pics of mine in the 'What do you drive or ride?' forum)

the gto might go quicker then a holden monaro cv8, but lets face it if they exported the hsv gts coupe insted they wouldnt b able to meet the demand (if the price is right)

I look at this GTO as an appetizer. Right now the just needed a RWD platform that was already in production. The F-bodys didn't provide enough refinement, so now they're left with the Omega and the Sigma.. Cadillac remembers the Cimarron and won't allow the sigma to go to a lower brand for at least another couple years. So that left bringing over the omega platformed GTO.

As it looks right now the GTO is selling like crazy all over the place. So GM is probably already thiking about what they'll replace it with. Omega goes back to the old cadillac Cateras so its getting a little long in the tooth. So that leaves the new Cheaper version of the sigma rumored to be in developement. give it 4 years and we may see a GTO redesigned on that platform, along with an LS-2 and bolder styling... Hey at least its better than the old Oldsmobile cutlass! DIE FWD DIE

There are also 2 Monaros running in the Nations Cup series in Oz. They are purpose built race cars with 7lt V8s. They race against Ferrari 360, Lambos, Porsche, Viper, Mosler and others of that ilk. Last years 24 hour race at Mt Panorama (one of the worlds best tracks) they finished 1st & 2nd

The GTO could be a great car once the Corvette aftermarket crowd evolve it....the basic items are in place for a semi-competitive sedan. 1st on the list should be more power. A supercharger or turbo should solve that problem. 2nd should be a more aggressive body kit. 3rd bigger tires and brakes should finish it off.
