hmmm from some angles it looks kinda good, from others it looks awkward... i think the final product will look a bit more polished and luxurious than this

It's a challenging looking car for sure, but try to remember that without models like this there would be no GT3.

That actually looks better than I thought it ever would.

They just had to keep that 911 shape didn't they.. :bah:

Is it me or are Porsche names getting weirder and weirder?

This is the Porsche Carma and it’s a design study by a group of students who were asked to create an extreme sports car that was suitable for everyday use.

The designers were said to have focused on the car’s aerodynamics and made a detailed study of the body and underbody surfaces to create the necessary downforce.

Quite how useable or not it would be may never be known but we think it’s a nice looking design.

The designers were Germain Baillot, Pierre Fichet Delavault, Julie Dicks, Simon Menu, who are believed to be attending their fourth year at the French Design School ISD.

VW and Audi want Panamera technology

Posted Nov 20th 2007 6:19PM by Jonathon Ramsey
Filed under: Tech, Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen
As Porsche digests more of VW (preparing for the inevitable buyout), the good news for VW and Audi fans is that technology transfer will go both ways. The latter two companies want to make their vehicles more svelte, and the tech that keeps the Panamera light on its wheels could be the trick they want to use. It's been conjectured elsewhere that VW might share the Panamera's bespoke chassis for a vehicle of its own creation, but that's a bit of a stretch considering the Wolfsburg brand's more proletariat image.

As far as a technology swap in the other direction, Porsche Chief Designer Wolfgang Durheimer has said that the 911, Boxster and Cayman will also be getting the VW/Audi-sourced direct-injection engines recently placed in the Cayenne, as well as DSG transmissions.

As I've been saying for some time

The rear doors are just an excuse to buy a Porsche

But why even bother with rear doors when you have the Cayman and the 911?! The car makes no sense, and neither do people who'll buy them.

Ouch. The Panamera is at least as big as the Mondeo Estate.
