Estoque might even get a diesel engine according to Mauritzio Reggiani.
Source Four Wheel News

I have nothing against sportscars using diesel.

Lamborghini has shelved plans to produce the dramatic Estoque four-door supercar that was unveiled at last autumn’s Paris motor show.
Maurizio Reggiani, the firm’s head of research and development, said the Estoque has been put on ice for the time being. "The timing and market conditions are just not right for an additional model line," he explained.
The Estoque was a four-door, four-seat concept with a front/mid-engined layout and permanent four-wheel drive.
Lamborghini had only committed limited feasibility funding to the Estoque project. This means the car's development was at an early enough stage for the firm to halt the project without a severe financial penalty.
The move is the first concrete evidence of Lamborghini's serious rethink of its future strategy. At Paris Lamborghini said the Estoque could be powered by a V10, a turbocharged V8, a hybrid V8 or even a high-performance diesel engine.
However, company sources say the Italian car maker's back-to-basics strategy will make dramatic weight saving a priority for future models, as well as possibly dropping turbocharging plans in favour of high-revving normally aspirated powerplants.
Reggiani is resisting pressure from a number of areas to introduce a DSG double-clutch transmission and says manual ’boxes could also be dropped.
He argues that Lambo's current e-gear transmission (which is a conventional six-speed manual gearbox with an electro-mechanical shift mechanism) offers "the best combination of weight saving and mechanical interaction".
Reggiani regards the typical DSG transmission as "too smooth" and lacking in the "sense of occasion and drama" that a Lamborghini owner wants. However, he says the next iteration of e-gear
will be "really surprising".
In the short term, though, sources indicate that there will be a Superleggera version of the Gallardo LP560-4.

Lamborghini cancels Estoque production plans
In past times, the Lamborghini Estoque would have sailed from concept to production without hesitation. After all, the car received a very positive reception from the motoring press and general public. Yet it will likely never see production. In the midst of a brutal recession, Lamborghini has cancelled plans to build the Estoque.

“The timing and market conditions are just not right for an additional model line,” research and development boss Maurizio Reggiani told Autocar.
The company spent a large sum of money developing the concept, but work on the production version was at a very early stage, so the financial loss is far less than is typical for such a cancellation. Honda’s axing of its new NSX, for example, likely resulted in a much larger loss.
The Estoque was to be priced around $200,000 and limited to 3,000 units per year.
Reggiani also told the magazine Lamborghini regards dual-clutch automated transmissions as “too smooth” and lacking a “sense of occasion and drama.” He said Lamborghini’s e-gear system — essentially a six-speed manual with a computer controlled clutch — offers the right experience for Lambo customers.

Due to the current, uncertain economical times, Automobili Lamborghini SpA has decided to put the plans to produce the amazing looking Estoque on hold for the time being.
According to Maurizio Reggiani (head of research and development at Lamborghini) the current market conditions are not in favor to put an additional model in the line up, hence the magnificent four door Estoque that was unveiled at the 2008 Paris Auto Show will not be seen on the road any time soon.
Until now the investment into the development of the new Estoque has been rather limited, hence putting the idea of producing it aside will not leave a financial burden on Automobili Lamborghini SpA, I am sure the Estoque would be a welcome addition to the line up, and we will probably see it surface again in the future, however for now it will remain a concept.
In Paris there was talk of a V10 powered version, probably using a derivative of the Gallardo's unit, but a V8, a Diesel and even a hybrid were on the drawing boards ... we will have to make due with the stunning Audi S8 instead, also powered by a V10 engine by the way.
However development at Sant'Agata hasn't been standing still, and we can expect some serious changes when a new evolution of the already famous e-Gear transmission will become available, it could even mean the end of the manual gearbox alltogether.
There have been a lot of rumors about a turbo charged Lamborghini in the near future, but this will probably not happen as Automobili Lamborghini SpA has always use high-revving normally aspirated engines in the past, and will continue doing so in the near future, however some more weight reduction could be in the pipeline.
An educated guess would be that the Frankfurt auto show later this year will see a new Gallardo LP560-4 derivative, probably a Superveloce edition with similar add-ons and weight saving as the awesome LP670-4 edition of the Murciélago as seen in Geneva this year.

LAMBORGHINI ESTOQUE
In reference to recent press coverage commenting on cancellation of its Estoque
project, Lamborghini has not taken any decision to produce its Estoque concept
car, the four door performance saloon concept shown at Paris motor show in
2008.
As stated when the car was shown, Lamborghini believes that if a third model line
should ever be added to its product line up, a four door luxury performance
saloon could be a logical product strategy. No decision has been made to produce
the Estoque.
