Default 5th Gear - S13 EP10 - 24th March, 2008 - Discussion

More motoring thrills and spills as Fifth Gear’s 13th season comes to an end, with Vicki Butler-Henderson, Tom Ford, Tiff Needell, Jason Plato and Jonny Smith at the helm. In this week’s series finale, Tiff and Jason race against each other in the new Renault Clio Cup. Tiff tries out the impressive Subaru Impreza WRX STi. Jonny checks out upcoming vehicles at the Geneva motor show. And Tom gets to see the massive Hummer H3 in action as it is stretched to its limits by a busy mountain rescue squad.

To end this series in style, Tiff Needell and Jason Plato take on one of the toughest challenges they have ever faced – by competing against each other. The boys get behind the wheel of the new Renault Clio Cup to tackle a series of stunt-driving tests. Their judge in this competition is legendary stunt driver Russ Swift. Two racing drivers, one stunt driver and a stripped-out, searingly hot hatch – which one will hold out the longest?

Elsewhere, Tiff chalks up a TV first when he gets his hands on the ultimate Subaru Impreza – the WRX STi. It may only cost £25,000, but with performance figures to embarrass cars twice its price and more, the WRX STi is a car that cannot be overlooked.

Jonny Smith is on his travels this week as he gets the chance to drop by the glitzy Geneva motor show – Europe’s most glamorous car festival. Big names such as Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo and Bugatti will be revealing exciting new models. Jonny looks beyond the bright lights to investigate the most important cars on show.

Also this week, Tom Ford tests the enormous and very American Hummer H3. He helps put this giant SUV through its paces as it is commandeered by a mountain rescue team. The car has become a modifier’s dream since its launch, but have the big wheels and shiny chrome over-shadowed its off-road abilities? Tom finds out by seeing how this beast of a machine can help save people’s lives.
