wich oldtimer should I advise someone to buy
My uncle has a BMW 330Ci and he's considering to buy an oldtimer. I'm thinking about advising him to buy a Jaguar Mark II. It has about 200hp and doesn't weight too much. I love the looks but I wonder what people are asking for a good one. Does anyone have a clue? And are there any other suggestions for nice oldtimers... Nothing too expensive or too radical (no Ferrari 512 or so).

How about an Alfa Romeo Giulia? i'm in love with that car...if I only had the money...oh well...

The Giulia doesn't look bad, but not really my kinda thing...
Ok here are some other oldtimers I like:
The Austin Healy (this model is from around 1955 I think)
The Triumph TR3A (1957-1961)

hi zipp, is it going to be a everyday car? or just a sunny sunday car? I'll go for a austin helay 3000 very beautifull car... british and quite exclusive. if you want I have some picture of a well conserved one.

I get the idea British cars are his thing.
In that case you should look into the Triumph GT6/TR6 as well. Great looking cars with a fair bit of grunt.

There's this web page, www.carsfromitaly.com, you can look at the classic old italian cars, like maseratti, lancia's or alfa romeo's...
And yeah, it also depend's on what do you want the car for...and what type of car too, sport's car, luxury sedan...etc..

Sorry about my late response. Thx for the answers.
He's rather looking for a car that he can take out twice a week or so for a little drive. Not an every day car. But it should be fun to drive and look nice.
I haven't talked to him for a couple of weeks.

My uncle owns a Morgan. Not really an oldtimer, but a 'new' classic car. He uses it in the weekend and for his trips to England (it's RHD).
It has also been a good investment. It's still worth as much now as at the time he bought it.
I don't know much about oldtimers really, so I'm not gonna recommend anything else. Watch out for rust, that's about all the advise I can give you.

Once i trust the reliability of german cars id go for an old mercedes SL, or otherwise id go for the old BMW Z01...anyway, in order to get a reliable car, for me its worth purchasing a full service car, although it means to pay a bit more of money.....in addition, going for a saab coupe of that period, the predecessor of the Volvo V70 of that period as well....or for the pug 404 coupe(weve to remember that the pug 404 alongside the 504 were very reliable cars indeed).....are some good choises as well for me

I say a Jaguar XKE (not V-12) or an Austin Healy 100-4 or 100-6...not an Austin Healy 3000 (as pictured above) or a Bug Eye Sprite.
