Default Bentley Continental Flying Spur launched in India

Bentley Continental Flying Spur launched in India

New Delhi, July. 4 (UNI): UK-based Bentley Motors on Sunay made its India launch of Continental Flying Spur, the fastest four-door car in the company's history with a top speed of 312 kmph, here today.

Speaking at the launch, the company's Regional Director Ian Gorsuch, said the Continental Flying Spur is a four-door Grad Tourer born of a coupe.

"It is a performance car but not at the cost of comfort. As such, it represents a unique proposition -- a sumptuous and spacious four-door Grand tourer with the heart and soul of a high-performance coupe," he noted, recalling that it had made its international debut at the Geneva Salon on March 1 this year.

The car's new model has taken its name from the 1952 Bentley R-Type Continental and 1957 four-dour Continental Flying Spur.

Satya Bangla, Director of Exclusive Motors Pvt Ltd, the India partner of Bentley Motors, said the cost of the car is Rs 1.65 crores. "Its commercial delivery will begin next month. Till now, six cars have been booked and the company has the target of selling ten cars this year," he informed.

"The target may be increased next year depending on the response we receive this year," he added.

The car has a high-tech, all-wheel-drive system for stability and grip in any conditions and is driven by an advanced six-speed automatic gearbox with paddleshift controls. Over eleven leather hides have been used to make a complete set of upholstery in the Continental Flying Spur. These are traditionally imported from northern Europe, where the relatively insect-free environment benefits leather quality.

Mr Bangla, when asked which segment he planned to target with this car, said the company, with the launch of this car, was planning to target the niche segment.

"It is a global car which is suitable for every kind of road. Right now, we plan to sell the car mainly in Delhi and Mumbai and depending on the response we will chalk out our future strategy. We have an exclusive showroom of this car in Delhi. Soon we will be opening one more showroom in Mumbai too."

The car has a 6-litre, twin-turbocharged 12-cylinder engine, which propels the car to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.

The car shares the massive braking system introduced on its sister car, the Continental GT coupe and has a cabin that uses exquisite Bentley design and craftsmanship to create a spacious interior.
