fuck for that much money I could build one hell of an old camaro. Handle as good as anything on the road and be the fastest dam thing on the block as well.

Some you said a sports car. For 10.000 pound, well it also depends how many miles you want on the clock.
You could buy a japanese sportscar, wich are pretty reliable => good second hand value. A Toyota MR2 or Celica with 140hp and low milage. Both cars are nice to drive and most car reviewers are very positive about them. With more miles on the clock you could get a Honda S2000. Very fast and about the best price/performance you could get now with a second hand car.
If you want an european car, you could try and buy a VW golf GTi or a VR6. A VW corado is very cool to, but hard to find. An other option is an Audi A3 1.8T with 150 or 180 hp. Or maybe a Clio RS with 172 hp, very fast and you could get a pretty good one for 10.000.
If I were you... don't know, depends on how many miles you want to make with it, how often you use it, if economy is important ... I like the Honda S2000, and if you really want a sportscar, that definitly is one.

for a european car id go with the mk3 golf vr6 or if insurance on the vr6 is a lil to much the mk3 gti 16v,both of them with great tuning potential and the german engine reliability.same with a corrado vr6,but when looking its very hard to find one with less than 85k miles on the clock but with them miles u can get a well looked after one for around 5-6k

What cracks me up is you guys talking used hi milage cars.... My choice would be virtually a new car, excepting the body. And for that sort of money I'd have a mid 10 second car that would scare the shit right outta you and run away and hide from virtually any car in the twistys, plus it would be a classic. Something no MR2 or Golf could ever be....
Use your hands to craft your dream car, not your pocketbook..... You'll learn something and if done properly you'll gain that extra special feeling of knowing you not only beat someone in a race but you also built what you raced.... Give that some thought.... It feels awesum to know you can do that... believe me. Been there done that, many, many times.

Wrong wrong wrong...
My choice would be a Ferrari 308.
Its half likely that you could pick one up for 10,000 pounds... and well its a Ferrari -> chick magnet -> stylish -> etc!

I say u give me the money so i can actually afford to insure my 1.0 litre corsa for 1 year lmao. Fucking uk, it pisses me off even more that friends in the US have 500bhp supras and pay less than me for a 1.0
But seriously, for £11200 u can get a 6speed Supra TT. But id probs get a Lancer evo 5 for that price. Performance better than a celica, seats 4 and looks good 2.
