Default 2008 Maserati Sport GT

A new Maserati GT coupe may make its debut at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. Though it hasn't even been alluded to by press officers from the Italian brand, our spies caught the prototype testing in lonely northernSweden.

The GT is a 2+2-seater, and thanks to a longer wheelbase it's said to be much roomier than its predecessor, just a bit shorter than the Quattroporte. The new car will have a double-wishbone suspension with the Skyhook adaptive damping system, and the rear-mounted Cambiocorsa clutchless gearbox as used in the Quattroporte. Power will come from the Ferrari-developed 5.0-liter V-8, derived from the current car's 4.2-liter engine; with new cylinder heads and induction system it's expected to produce an estimated 470 hp.

The Spyder, which will be launched later in the year, will be offered with the 5.0-liter V-8. The Spyder will also, for the first time, have a folding metal hardtop that will retract behind the seats. The top is likely to be developed by Pininfarina.

I strongly hope that it won't received the rumored Alfa developped V6 Turbo !! A 5.0 liter V8 is so more sexy

Let's hope that Ferrari's input isn't narrowed down only to the engine, the Maser coupe's have always been a major let down as drivers car (apart from the Gransport). The power is amazing, 470BHP is just short of the peak output of the F430. So much grunt for 2/3's of the price. Stylingwise not much can be said I hope Maserati returns to the boomerang styled rearlights.
