UPDATE:

Stumbled upon some new Test Drive Unlimited game trailers

http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=1645

The game will definitely be worth purchasing imo,

its coming out in approximately a week on 360,

but I'm going to hold off and wait a month for the PC version.

We have played the demo a number of times.. its rather one dimensional, and I think will be no different even with online play.

For one thing, you suffer no damage so you tend to drive arcade style.

The vast open free roam environment is fun, but there is only so much staying power for a game that involves driving up and down Hawaiis roads in an indestructable Gallardo...

Now if games like GT4 or Forza2 etc incorporated a free roma world, where you could get into street races on the way to your hotlap session at Tsukaba -- or let you pull inot the pits and the Nurburgring and then take sin up the parallel autobahn outside the track that would be a whole other ball game...

Ahh, thanks for the info!

I don't have the 360 so wasn't able to try out the demo,

but it is a big disappointment that it's primarily an arcade game without any damage effect in performance.

but I do think it would be worth trying the online play, since it will add another dimension to the game and I really like the vast collection and details in cars.

THe really cool thing about this game is that if you want to purchase a car you don't just buy it in a menu like in any toher game, you actually drive to the dealer which is based on one that exists in real life.

The list of cars... >120. Atari have seriously put in a shitload of cash for the licences. And over 1500 km's of rods Even though I pressume it will be more arcade than simulator, I can't wait for the PC version.

I thought it was out in October for PC? Is this still the case?

Why is it that decent driving games really don't seem to come to PC (where they would look best!), Gran Turismo, PGR, etc.

Why would they make a game nowadays without damage? Sounds a bit stupid, maybe the demo was a beta? or non-finished in some way? (he says ... hoping!)

^^Financial issues are the barrier, Sony for example probably pay Konami to keep the Gran Turismo series PS and PSP exclusive.

Well - I picked up the XBox360 version this evenig - we're gonna see just how much fun it is.

It's launch price of "only" $40 may scare some people off.. because usually a "discounted" game must suck

^^^

Interesting that they would lower the price like that, as it seemed they spend allot of resources and time doing this game.

I wonder how much the PC version of the game will be since that's the version I'm planing to get!

Also RC45, if u could please tell us how it compares to the demo version you tried earlier this year.

Have a copy of it - just got a 360 and TDU today. Put it this way, I went out and bought Forza 1 an hour or so later...

Ah well, should tide me over til Forza2 appears.

RC and all, what are your Xbox live gamertags?

I am TexasJohn74.

Long time no speak BTW, have been busy at work and also at home decorating and refurbing my house. Finally finished it now so hopefully more JW time!
