Default Shelby GT500 KR pricing & some really optimistic dealers

The self proclaimed King of the Road Ford Shelby GT500KR is ready to enter our streets, with the recommended retail price set at $79,995. But with a limited production of just 1000 units this year and 700 in 2009, they are sure to be sold pretty fast.

With demand far exceeding supply, there is little surprise to see the dealerships looking to cash in. We generally hear premiums rising 20K on limited production models, but one dealer in Housten,Texas has quite literally taken it to a new level, by placing the GT500KR on ebay for a buy it now price of $154,991 giving the Ford dealer a huge premium of $74,996.

Based on the GT500, the Shelby GT500KR gets a power increase of 40hp and 30 lb.-ft of torque bringing total output to 540hp and 510 lb.-ft. of torque. The chassis is enhanced for “world class performance” and gets new suspension components unique to the KR.

Deliveries will commence later this month, click here for 31 new photos.

Even at "just" 80,000 dollars i dont think it's worth it. If it's the performance you're after, it's better to get a regular new or low milage gt500 and do the mods yourself.

The KR is more limited then even the Ford GT was...... many dealers think they can put in a 30-40,000$ premium.... but I think that will fall to $15,000-20,000 rather quickly..... the dealers with those 75k premiums are going to be few and far between, and the dealers that have the KR long after production has ended...

That said.... My ONLY complaint about the KR, after having seen and been in one this past w/e is this (a very special prototype) ... the Hood is a VERY expensive piece... a carbon fiber, with every intake, and vent being functional... it has over 100 separate pieces, and cost nearly as much to produce as the engine....

I'd much rather have Ford use an Aluminum block (that would fit in the engine bay) to reduce weight, then a carbon fiber hood.

That said, the press launch was a week ago.... and the journo's are VERY surprised, and impressed

as far as "doing the mod's yourself" the parts used aren't in the FRP catalogue for the KR... not yet anyway..

What about the handling mods
How much better will the handling be over a stock gt500?

keep in mind, the Enzo does 73 mph in the same slolam, and the Evo MR does 71 mph....

u can definitely get the air intake from FRPP and the exhaust, add a remap and you're set for the claimed 540 hp

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=9968

and u can check out some stuff at the shelby performance parts web page for the suspension, whether they're the exact same components as the KR i'm not sure

http://www.shelbyperformanceparts.com/ListItems/SubCategory/Performance/Suspension%20Kit.aspx

but if i were to select something from their web page, my gt500 would have the following;

Alcoa Wheel

Part #8S3Z-1007-10

20x10 Shelby forged wheel $494.99 x 2

Alcoa Wheel

Part #8S3Z-1007-9

20x9 Shelby forged wheel $494.99 x 2

Baer brakes, rear

Part #BBS-2262019

Baer Brakes rear conversion kit $694.99

Baer brakes, front

Part #BBS-4261112-RB

Baer Brakes Extreme Plus front system, red caliper with blac $2,999.99

Borla Exhaust

Part #BPI-140135

07 5.4 and 4.6 Cat back "S" exhaust $799.99

Eibach Suspension Kit

Part #ES-35115.680

05-07 5.4 Pro System Plus Suspension $1,109.99

Short Throw Shifter

Part #M-7210-T1

05-07 GT Short throw shifter with stalk and knob $259.99

Ford Racing 5.4 liter Super Charger

Part #M-6066-SGT

Super Snake Super Charger Upgrade $5,629.99
Sub Total: $13,474.90

add roughly about 50,000 dollars for a new car, and we're spending just over 63,000 dollars... not only is it cheaper than the KR but i also get 605hp and i keep my warranty

whoa, really? I thought it was going to be a slightly warmed over GT500. I knew about the hood and 20mm lower ride height, but I didn't think they'd get aggressive enough with the setup to get any results. I'm excited about this car again. Does anyone know the curb weight?
