They were using Subarus here in Sydney for alittle while too, not sure if they are still doing it though. Would be pretty hard getting away from one of those in the twisties, highways might be another thing all together though (no helicopters here )

That is ridicouls. Ive havent seen those cars yet but that is crazy. Our State patrol also rides BMW bikes. Im sure that it is real. That is a pic of Denver in the background of the street racers. And our state patrol is filthy rich.

I guess that this is just a logical progression. I mean, the German Highway Patrol have been using tuned Porsches for years, some forces in the UK have Lotus Esprits, so what's wrong with a Scooby?

aussie cops had wrxs at one stage...
they wrote a few off in like 2 weeks and then one guy in a commodore reversed into another one after he was pulled over and wrote that off as well
now they just seem to stick to commodores and falcons
usually just v6's but they used to use v8's

I'm sure they still use the V8s for the highway pursuit vehicles...
I alsao seem to remember that there was something about the Subarus to do with having to fit a roll cage to them which made it difficult for the fat pigs to get in and out of Good for us I guess that they love their Maccas more than they love being able to do their jobs....

Haha Dont't think you're going to have much chance running from the police now!! It was a little while ago now, but some of the police in Leicester used Ford Escort Cosworths for a while!!

The local police here in Stavanger, Norway actually has a silver WRX STi for an undercover car. You don't wanna see that one in your rearview mirror.
They also have an MB E-class. Other than that the cars are mostly Nissans and Volvo V70s.

Wow, I would be interested to find out the STI's or other turbo cars hold up for that kindof duty. Normally I would think that a 300hp or so big V8 would hold up better then a turbo four making the same huge power. Impressive if they do hold up to that kindof beating, around here they run the cars (ford crown vics) up to 130k miles and then auction them for a few dollars. Maybe one of you europeans or aussies can answer that.
