Problem with memory card

Ok, here's what happened:

Today after work i took about 7 shots of an Alpina Z8 with my shitty little Aiptek PocketCamX.The memory card is a ScanDisk 256MB.

I went to the store on my way home to see how much a higher capacity card would have been but couldnt remember what it looked like so i pulled it out for a moment (with the camera off) and reinstalled it.

I just tried to upload the pics from my cam to my computer but when i opened the folder with the pics, all i had was a pic i took way back in march The funny thing about this is, i have cleared the memory card several times since then.

Is there some odd quirk with either of these components that i haven't heard of??

perhaps you locked the memory card when you pulled it out? thats all i can think of......
