Default 456

Personally I think the 550 does not look anything special. I can think of plenty of cars where money could be better spent. EG F40 for less! The 360 Spyder looks cool, but the normal 360 is pretty boring and Hyundai looking.

The new 456 looks half ok. It was never a wonderful looking car so why expect anything else for the new one? Does Nissan Z ring a bell? Thats what im seeing...

Its not an exotic. To be an exotic it has to do more than go fast. It has to look exotic... like an "Ice Cream cake with a sparkler" or "Rachus Rock and Roll"...

Default 456 becomes 460????

It is a great picture and indeed very exclusive. I only saw prototype pictures of it. I think we are talking about the new 460M.

More than ten years after the Ferrari 456 was launched, Ferrari will introduce a new 2+2 model at the 2004 Detroit Motorshow. Ferrari have yet to release a name, but strong rumours suggest that '460M' will be the name. Pininfarina design sketches and some technical information have already been released. Power will come from a down-tuned version of the 6 litre Enzo engine, which explains the '60' part of the name.

The new 2+2 will be considerably lighter than the car it replaces due to the extensive use of aluminum. It relies on the lessons learned when designing the 360 Modena, which uses a similar aluminum construction. Three six-speed gearboxes will be available; a complete manual, a semi-automatic 'F1' and a full automatic gearbox.

Responsible for the body is Pininfarina's Ken Okuyama. The design features the designer's characteristic sharp lines as seen on the Rossa concept and the Enzo.

This could be one of the most beautiful Ferrari ever.
I love the 456 GT, and I'll love moooore this one.
Hope it'll be lighter than the 575M and even more power.
I heard Ferrari asked Audi for the 4wd system

most probably it will not be called the 460GT. 456 is the cylinder capacity in the 456GT (5474cc/12), so if the replacment will use this code it should be could the 479GT (if it has the 575M engine) or 500GT (if it has the Enzo engine).

about the awd, I don't think this will become reality. there was never a non RWD Ferrari before, and hopefully there will never be.

alondahan, as I wrote before :

"Power will come from a down-tuned version of the 6 litre Enzo engine, which explains the '60' part of the name."

as far as I know the Enzo has a 6 liter engine, that is why it is likely that it is going to be called 460.
