why do i keep forgetting about that evil E word If they released the race version of the engine, reliability wouldn't be that big of an issue. You can't win 24hr races by blowing engines

^^ But you also rebuild such engines after each outings.. The stock car has to be able to run for 100,000 miles before it's first coolant change..

But you also rebuild such engines after each outings..
right, but show me the typical corvette driver that takes his car on 24 hour sustained high rpm runs like that Granted i am well aware the the C5 and 6 R engines were purposebuilt for those events. but swap in some slightly less efficient heads and intake, and there's your road engine

AKA ZL-1 Camaro from a few years back... and they did it in a one-off GTO Judge last year

As if we didnt expect it.. The viper has officially been trounced on a road course in all numbers. The gt nudges the vette at over double the price on lap time, but loses in several key categories(braking for one, grip and quarter mile as well) reflecting a situation that would be all driver and track choice.:

Looks like front engine, push rods and leaf springs and normally aspirated are just as good as mid engine, 4 valves, coil overs and super charged.
