Has anyone heard from HP and whether they are doing the recall?
I've only heard from Apple and Dell.

just the battery.
15-inch
PowerBook G4 A1078
and A1148 3K425 - 3K601
6N530 - 6N551 ending with THTA, THTB, or THTC
6N601 ending with THTC
that is the bad battery i have. its just that fact that in some rare cases it can overheat and possibly start a fire. :bah: but i haven't heard of the Apples having fires, just the Dells. I think it would be kind of hard for the aluminium case to catch fire.

can anyone tell me where I see the DELL laptops affected by the defective battery? ANd like what does the defective battery do? Does it not hold charge propperly or does it mess up the computer or what?
I bought a comp for my brother 5 months ago. He hasnt told me something is wrong, but then again, he wouldnt know unless it explodes.

I dont think you are gonna get problems with the battery if you just bought the laptop recently.....say 7 months about? What I think and this may not be correct at all is that after a while when the battery gets worn out and over say 200 FULL recharge cycles there might be some leak in the battery fluid or something. BTW incase anyone cares most laptop batteries can handle about 300 give or take 2 recharge cycles before you start noticing that your battery runs out in like 20 minutes.

I avoided that. My laptop battery is not affected.
It's not really a big deal. It's just that some batteries overheat with a bit too much alacrity if you use it too much, and spontaneously combust.
