Default Spyker cars 56k warning

Spyker was a Dutch car manufacturer in the early 20th century. In 1903 they built the first six-cylinder (60 hp in 1903!) four wheel drive car. In 1925 the company ceased trading.



The name Spyker reappeared in recent years. First car to be shown was the C8 Spyder.







Second was the C8 Laviolette, the coupé named after a Belgian engineer who designed cars for the original Spyker firm.





The roadgoing version of the Le Mans car, the C8 Double 12S, was the third car.



I hope this post hasn't been done before. I will try to post some stats about the cars as well.

The first time I saw pictures of the Spyder I wasn't too impressed. The first chance I got to see one was in february of 2001 at the AutoRAI in Amsterdam and they completely blew me away. They look so much better in real life. The detailing is astonishing. I spent nearly an hour looking at them (Spyder and Laviolette), dicovering new details all the time. No wonder Jay Kay ordered a Spyder after he saw it.

I'm also impressed with all the luxury while the weight is still low at 1100 kg.

The Double 12 doesn't really do anything for me. The rear end is simply too long. It's done for aerodynamic purposes. After all, when it comes to racing form follows function.

My personal favourite is the Laviolette.

It's very nice indeed. I don't know if any of you guys have the promo video of the C8 Spyder. It took me countless days to finish from Kazaa. The video is nice, shows the car in action. The growling sound of the V8 as well. Also the closer interior shot. Very nice. For those who haven't watch it, I'll send it to you if you want.

I like this car, but I wish I knew more about it. Too bad we don't have a video of JC or Tiff driving it. I remember Tiff testing it a couple of years back. But I only saw the last minute or so, and it was till a prototype. He said he liked the styling and the noise of the car, but handling wise it was still far from the likes of Ferrari or Porsche.

1100kg and the top version has 630 hp if I rember correctly, that's very impressive, in fact that's a better power/weight ratio then any other production car except the F1LM.

hum.. well everybody knows I like that car quite a lot as I got it as sig...

I like the design very marine-architecture, very pure. engine is a audi one so it souldn't break too quickly!

I love the sound too, roarry!!

It would be a great idea JC testing this beautifull car... I don't even know if he knows it exist...

The C8 Spyder and C8 Laviolette have 400 hp and the C8 Double 12 ranges from 400 up to 620 hp (with maximum rpm of 9500!), depending on the wish of the customer. I bet if you pay up you can get your Spyder or Laviolette tuned to 620 as well.

I remember Tiff driving the prototype. That one needed some work, the handling and cooling weren't completely sorted out. EVO drove it too and, bearing in mind it was still a proto, they were impressed with it too. Too bad I didn't see any tests with them anymore after that. Production is well under way now, so it should all be sorted.

I'm not sure if I'm in a brain-drain moment, but didn't Spyker race one car in LeMans, this last race? I was curious to know how they did?

Spyker was 30th overall and 10th in GT. It wasn't good, but that was clear from the start because they still have too much restrictions. They have to get production numbers up. At least they finished the race. Last year the car did not make it to the finish.

They raced at Sebring too in 2002 and 2003. I don't know the result of Sebring 2002, but in 2003 they had to retire in the 7th of the 12 hours.
