Maybe I go for the use ML55, for the engine and the 4x4 drive. I'm currently driving my dad ML430 and it's very impressive in the snow.

I voted for the M3, because I like M3's. They are badass.

I voted for the M3 as well. Although the new Audi S4 with the V8 seems like the best choice, don't think you can get it for the price you want.

I voted for the M3, I love it, but the engine if used hard, can be a problem on used cars

I voted for the Audi S4. Audi has good build quality, the previous S4 is a 2.7litre 265hp Turbo engine wich is pretty fast. The car doesn't look bad and I think you can find a pretty good one.

I was doubting to vote for the M3 because it is just a magnificent car, but most people who drive an M3, drive it hard => second hand value = difficult to estimate right. And the S4 you're less likely to have that problem.

01-02 Mercedes Benz C320 (good but nothing special and not very sporty)
02+ Subaru WRX (don't like the looks)
95-02 BMW 3-series Convertible (expensive)
99-01 Mercedes ML55 AMG (this is a lot more expensive then the rest)

Quite a range of cars there - What are you looking for exactly; a 4x4 monster, convertible cruiser or a performance saloon ???

Indeed, that's what I found so weird. It's like you don't know what you're looking for or you just made this up and sumed up car's you like because well the car's are totally different. Don't take it as an insult, that's just how it appears at first sight. The price range is a bit weird to. A second hand ML55AMG cost still more then a new Merc C320...

Go for the M3. You'll have some fun in it !
S4 and WRX are is also a good choice.
Don't buy ML - it is crap. My friend has one and something goes wrong with it like every month.

Where are you geographically? Will an AWD car be useful/necessary in the winter? If you're in like Cali then just get the M3, otherwise the S4/WRX (STi?) make more sense.

I'm in the Northeast. So 4x4 is a must sometimes.

Then you should probably forget about the M3. It'd be great in the summer time, but if you have weather like I do (southeast Ontario) then it'll be almost useless in the winter. An S4 is a great car. Do you want the new or old one? One of my friends is awaiting delivery of her new S4, I can't wait to go for a ride.

As a left field entry, the WRX is fast, but lacks the class of the other cars you listed. Would you get the straight up one or the STi?

My mums E36 M3 has dun 70 odd thousand miles, still runs like a dream, and doesnt use a drop of oil, the only majour thing dun has bin replacement of rear trailing arm bushes, but apparently that is a common faliure.
And b4 everyone says thats becuse me mums bin driving it, my dad had it from new and put 50k on it, and he drove it hard, but not unreasonably.
Go 4 the bimmer, u wont regret it.
