VW increases production of Veyron + Baby Bugatti
Volkswagen has increased yearly production of its Bugatti Veyron supercar from 50 cars to 70, due to increased demand, reports Automobilwoche. U.S. customers have also reportedly pushed for earlier delivery. A total of about 300 Veyrons are expected to be built. A Volkswagen source also said that boss Bernd Pischetsrieder is likely to approve a smaller Bugatti model with about 300 horsepower, as well as an immediate successor to the Veyron once production is complete.

I found this on another automotive forum so I don't know how valid this information is.

Thats crazy. Baby Bugatti... sweet
I think it would be better if they sold more. The reason the production cost is so high is cause of R+D. There was so much momey invested into R+D that they are loosing money. But if you can just build more cars it will get closer to even. Not saying that they will get anywhere close to cutting even. But they will be better off then they are now.

I belive the actual price isn't 5M, its the cost if you consider the development that went into building the veyron. So in other words, the more veyrons VW builds, the more money they will start making.

as JC said "EACH car costs 5M pounds to make, so that's a huge lose and they made it only as a technical exercise to see, if it could be done..."
so I don't think they will even get close to the even and I doubt about profit...

The Gheyron will be just as much of a sales failure

^^ I agree to an extent - it has the classic 2-tone Bugattie paint scheme, and a great concept - but along the way got mired down with the curse of the Audi over engineering.
Eventually Lamborghini will succumb to this as well.
It is amazing how Porsche is so German, but at the same time so non-German in their execution of their obsession.
Unlike VW/Audi that is so German, but at the same so German in their obsession of their execution...

Well. Increasind demand? Where? When you have sold 30 of your cars from the beginning of the year you expect it to contiue i think.
The baby bugatti is a waaay better idea.

I wouldn't even want to think about what a "successor" to the Veryon would be like. The car is scary as it is. Maybe add another 300 hp and lose about 1000 lbs. Then you's have something that would take a special licence and training program to drive on public roads.

As long as they keep up with the number of available colour schemes, there would be someone out there who wants to collect one for each colour
Wait, is that the reason why they went with the two tone paintjob?
