Really stupid.silly all round... the guy did EVERYTHING wrong...

Walked round the back.. left the keys in... got out to let the guy sit in drivers seat.

The guy had no car parked outside his house.. etc etc etc.

bloody hell - sounds like this guy is making a living out of nicking the cars

I feel sorry for the owner - seems he was trying to be a good salesman, yet the dishonest little fucker nabbed the car.

But leaving the keys in the ignition is a little dumb-ass IMO

Sad to hear ... Reading thru the story it might happen to us if we are not that attentive ... sometimes we get so glad and excited to buy/sell that we lose that so called common sense.

somebody i know of (not me) was selling thier car since they couldn't afford it anymore... and had already missed who knows how many payments.

so, a guy came up, and was "thinking" buying it, and wanted to test drive it; did, and never came back.

this person then called the local police, who then said "no it wasn't stolen, it was reposessed"

I didn't read through the thread but it is hard to say. I've test drove many cars when I was looking for my M3 and 8 times out of 10, the owner would say "Here's the keys, have fun, and be safe. I'll meet you back here."

And I would go out on test drives by myself. So I guess I could see how that would happen.

But did you arrive on foot, with a story about leaving your car and taking a taxi... that alone should have been a red flag.. right?
