God damn! What a horrible sight.. to see your own car go burn up into flames like that..

Glad no one was hurt, except for the audi that is..

Soo many VW's, and this the first one to catch fire?

My Dad was scarred for life by his VW Rabbit back in the day and has sworn against VW ever since..

Damn, what a loyal VW group customer...............

You should lure him into buying RS4 to replace 3 cars at once

After chatting with him he reminded me that his VW/Audi infatuaiton stated closer to 1975 than 1985.. he reminded me of the Super Beetle and the Jeans Bug as well as the 1978 Golf I, the Audi 80 and the 90 Estate from 1980... hehe

Then he reminded me of exactly why he was/is such a VeeDub loyalists - my step-grandad was the chairmen of the VW/Audi board of executives for many years..

My uncle had a Jeans Bug, I remember sitting on the roof as a child.

I hope your dad is ok RC, not too shocked by the experience. No doubt he's had a few hair raising moments during his working life

I just read this article. To think we were just talking about his Audi infatuation about 3 weeks back ... Jeez.

Sad to see the old stager go. Must have been a short circuit or something that caused it. The car was about 20 years old right? Wasnt it the first car boasting a Cd of <0.30.

No this was the 9 year old 1997 Audi 500SEL. The 20+ year old Audi 200 (with the 0.29 Cd) ran out of steam at about 240,000kms..
