Default Nokia 8800/8801 At last I got it!

Wow this phone is prettier in person than it is in pictures. At last I have my dream phone!

(furthest down to the right)

As you can see the one in the middle is pretty messed up. The reason being that I refused to change phone till a successor to the 88xx came out. After 4 years of using the 8890 (bought same phone 2), I upgraded to the 8801. From what I read, this will be the last phone in the 88xx series they make. I read on forums that they will move this phone to the Vertu brand (nokia ULTRA-expensive for the ULTRA-rich)... www.vertu.com to check those insanely expensive phones out.

Nice, I remember I had a few of those 8890s too. I used it for about 2 years or so until the V60 came out and that became my favorite phone. But that will always be a classic .

I heard the 8800 is kind of heavy no?

Wouldn't it just be easier to arrange a direct withdrawal from y'alls bank accounts directly to these tech companies?

I mean the obsession with pointless gadgetry is amazing

8800 is really heavy due to the stainless steel. 8890 was aluminum. Good for weight, but as you can see, drop it and you get it dented. 8890 never stopped working though, cosmetically it would suffer from falls, but not operationally.

I would suggest this phone only if you dont care about cameras and extra functions. What I like about this phone:
1) Looks.
2) Atention to detail.
3) Feel (the metal is cold to touch at first, but very quickly warms up)
4) Fast really fast menues (Fooled around with a Motorola RAZR and god damn its slow)
5) Crystal clear display.

Its not a tech phone as it lacks sooo many functions, but I dont care cuz I just use it to make and end calls.

So in conclusion bmagni, if you hate slow phones (like those that are slooooowww when you brouse address book of entries in sim card) this phone is really good. Other than fast, great looks, and size, it has nothing.

RC45 - the first phone 8810 is TDMA released 1998, pretty useless now. From that I went to GSM 8890 released 2000 (I got it 2001), but lacked 850mhz frequency used by Cingular (they use 1900 aswell). From 2001 till now, I had that one. So thats a long time (when compared to most people) IMO to own a phone. This one I'll keep who knows how long since they wont be releasing a successor for it.

I bought this phone last week.. I love it. 2 megapixel camera, lightweight. The nokia N70.
If there was any drawback, it would be the buttons are very tight together. It reminds me of your phone Ronin (looks amazing) with the brushed alluminium look.
Good choice mate :fadein:

^ why do you need 2mp camera when you can get a proper camera to take pics?

That thing is just too big. I just like small cell phones.

I didn't buy it for the camera.. But it has turned out to be one of the features i most like about the phone. Compared to my old flip, this one is actually pretty slim, and the massive screen makes it great to look at.
I only use the phone for calls / sms, but the serendipities of this phone have made it one i really enjoy using. I'd recommend it.

hmmmm, that nokia is like £250 with a contract over here, seems to me a waste of money.

I got a sony erricsson w800i recently free on a contract and to be honest its replaced my ipod as it takes the same memory card as my psp. 2 Mp handy comes in handy when im without my 350d and the battery life is very good, along with the mp3 player and its small size its a perfect phone for me

I also had the two older models. They looked quite nice indeed, the chrome like one got called ZIPPO in some circles.

Unfortunately my car phone cradle doesn't accept any of these small phones, so I haven't bought the newest one.
