Default 599 GTB to use corvette tech. suspension?

The embattled, and bankrupt, GM parts supplier Delphi has been tapped by Ferrari to supply the new 599 GTB Fiorano with its MagneRide suspension that’s also used on the Chevrolet Corvette, Cadillac STS and other premium GM products. The MagneRide suspension uses shock absorbers filled with a fluid capable of changing damping characteristics on the fly.

Delphi has been supplying Ferrari with climate control systems since 1992 and will also supply the Fiorano’s electrical system. If this stuff is good enough for Ferrari…

hmm... seems unreliable... but it has been proven that magnetic ride suspension copes amazingly well for both cornering, and compfort...

Well I know they use these magnetic dampers, thats no secret but Im not sure who the supplier is...

Either way it's one of those things that only 2 or 3 places in the make do

Like high voltage insulators are made in 4 or so places in the world......

I'm sure its the same for these new magnetic dampers.

Either way! WTF??? I thought Vettes are live rear axle.

Nope, that's just Mustangs nowadays. According to RC in another thread, Vettes have essentialy had independent rear suspension since the C4 (that's what i remember, might be slightly off).

When i saw this thread I thought you were going to report the 599 would have the leaf spring setup, which would've really been a shock.

Actually they have had IRS since the 1960's..

Interesting though - because GM have deemed the Magna-Ride style setup not quick enough in response to put anywhere except cruisers.

They chose not to use the magnaride for the Z cars..
