Seriously uncool! That spoiler on the back is hillarious, it might have been fine and working for the race cars(but I doubt it) but on the road cars they could've put a lower one and still follow the rules of NASCAR. The fact that this is no faster than a normal Charger 440 speaks for itself - that spoiler has no purpose whatsoever. I have to be mad to buy and drive one on the public road - people will laugh at it (at least those who are not brain washed Nascar fanatics)

Cool, Made American racers think about Aerodynamics, but ruined it all for nascar. It was the start of the end of Stock Car racing. Rare, Fast and slippery, be sure to roll the windows up with excessive speed. Cool. Much higher top end than a charger or any roadrunner. A production Nascar.

Very very cool, I have driven three of the superbirds and daytonas. People do not laugh at them, they find them interesting or the respect the impact it made when it came out.

I say seriously cool.

It looks ridiculous, but it was fast back in the days. I wish stock cars looked as crazy and varied as it does today.

And they can be made to corner.

See the later half of this clip.

Who voted seriously uncool? Philistines.

If it were in the 00's, it'd be like Audi selling A4 DTM as a road car as is.

In a strange way, it can be considered precursor to the likes of Porsche 911 GT1 Straßenversion, Mercedes Benz CLK-GTR, and Maserati MC12.

Anyways, I have seen one in real life and it is long. And the size of the rear spoiler... is just maddening.

What saddens me is that people sometime make the observation that goes, "oh, look at that wing and those bright colors. Is this what inspired the modern ricer." Little do they realize that the wings weren't just stuck to the body, but rather were connected to the frame. The wing was high for the purpose of catching air that was less distrupted by the path of the car. The Charger Daytonas and Superbirds are really great high speed cars.

Lastly, in the Harrah's car museum in Reno, they have a Superbird that is stock minus the split drivetrain. With the proper gearing available, it had no trouble running above 200 mph on several occassions at Bonneville.

It was truly the peak of its era. Designed to do one thing. Go fast around a track. It was so fast (220mph in race car form) that NASCAR started to put penalties to slow it down. NASCAR never really "recovered" from that in techonological sense.
