Default 1964 Pontiac (Corvette) Banshee Coupe

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1964-...QQcmdZViewItem

Those Banshee concepts are awesome... foreshadowing the Stingray early C3 Corvette in many ways thanks to the genius of DeLorean.

The main issue I have with the sale is that it claims that this coupe is the only Banshee in existence.... when in reality, Joe Bortz owns the only one with a Pontiac V8 (which is superior to the Chevy unit at that time). Bortz has a few dozen concept cars he saved from the car crusher decades ago by clever negotiations with the junk yard managers

For those that don't know, these were John Delorean's cars that almost came to production- except internal GM affairs prohibited anything that would be faster or compete with the Corvette from existing, and therefore they never made it to life. Shame, because it's really a sharp car. I love that it has the OHC Pontiac six in it too.

Though whomever wrote this auction up is a tad ignorant- both of the Banshee concept cars still exist. Here's the convertible-

Good article-

curious if Bortz buys it to make a matching pair?

I love the Banshee concept. I like how it's various cues were used on later production cars. Didn't this particular one sell at Barrett Jackson a couple of years ago? You'd think that would make the owner more knowledgeable.

It's weird how the listing recognizes the other car yet assumes it doesn't exist.

Well, I guess the seller's trying to cheat people out of their money by saying that it's the only one in the world. Or just didn't do homework on it, although you should if you're trying to sell a car for $1.3 million. It's a very nice car, though.
