Default Top Gear - S14 EP1 - 15th November, 2009 - Discussion

Motoring news and views with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. In the first of a brand new series, Jeremy, Richard and James take an Aston DBS Volante, a Ferrari California and a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder to Romania in search of an obscure stretch of Tarmac that some hardcore drivers claim is the nothing less than the greatest road in the world. James compares two powerful limos, the BMW 760i and Mercedes S63 AMG. Plus, Eric Bana is the Star in the Reasonably Priced Car.
9pm start time

Great star to kick off the series! I look forward to seeing what they think of the California. The limos bit sounds boring, but knowing top gear im sure theyll make it worth watching

Sounds like an awesome start of the new series. Maybe they should compare the 760 with the S600 but this will be great too. And everybody that has seen "Love the Beast" knows what a petrolhead and all around nice guy Eric Bana is. Looking forward..

Love the Beast is fantastic! Before that, I had no clue the 2nd Bruce Banner was an Aussie, let alone a gear head

I heard that the new TG season will actually be in HD too!

I dunno. Am I setting my expectations too high these days? I have to admit I was a little disappointed. Not a bad episode of course I always love watching the boys do their thing, but it was underwhelming most of the time and felt over staged.

There were some good moments. I loved watching the show in 1080 for the first time ever...

By now, the over the top, and staged events of the grand tour are just part of the show. I enjoyed it more than Jeremey's new DVD to be honest. I think the individual reviews will make the season as it goes on. Hopefully its more than just 6 episodes...

The accidents are a bit of a setup you know with no Fifth Gear, Top Gear has to only top themselves.

FYI the doppelkupplungsgetriebe is double clutch drive-which is quite smart actually, probably not a bad car.

The last 5 mins of the Romanian feature should've been longer.
