This is anyway a pretty good offer compared to what we can have here.. what about upload speeds?
Upload speeds are all 256k (25k sec)

talking about cheap internet access..japan gets unlimited 8Mbps ADSL for 3300yen/month which comes to about 40AUD or 29USD

but i pay $80/month for 512k. broadband is such a rip off in this country. but for cable, speed is only limited to whatever speeds it is capable of but only get 3gb download

its because ppl in asia embrace new technology immediately unlike most aussies, they're slow as fuck. if you look at reports. HK, Japan and Korea are the on top with most internet users.

plus we have telstra which is fucking up everything for australians who want to embrace new technologies.

I pay $49.95US/mo for 768KB ADSL Thats UP/DOWN speed. ALthough I have not seen speeds much faster than 460KB on average for upload. I have gotten on average 650KB on downloads.

Athlon 1900+
Gigabyte 7VRXP Motherboard (never buying a gigabyte motherboard again)
512 Megs of Corsair XMS DDR400 (Big time Overkill I don't know why i bought it when I did)
2 60 gig Maxtor 5400rpm drives (also crap )
16x10x40 LG CD Writer
16x Sony DVDROM (that doesn't work, never buy sony optical computer products)
HHC-001 Coolermaster Heatsink/Fan
All In Wonder ATi Radeon 8500 128meg (full clock speed) <-- Traded my GF 4 4200 for it
Sound Blaster Live 5.1
Altec Lansing 621 (one of the best set of 2.1 speakers money can buy)
3Com 10/100 Ethernet Card
10mbit Resnet connection (at university - usually runs around 4-7Mbits)
4mbit Cable connection(at home)
17" Flatscreen Viewsonic

I'm saving up for an upgrade (and at the same time) waiting to see if the new athlons come down in price. If they don't I'll probably invest in a P4 in the summer.

You also have to realize that their population density is alot higher than australia's or America's or Canada's. it's much more cost efficent to hook those people up into a fiber connection because they don't have to use as much cable to get everyone connected.

edit: And by percentage values (of how many broadband users there are out of the total population), Canada has the 2nd most broadband users next to South Korea
