its a g1 and got problems with audio, or so I hear...

however at the CES

Samsung lead the Blu-ray charge with their announcement of a $499 1080p24 capable player most likely as a direct replacement of the BD-P1000, apparently with a superior decoding chip than its predecessor hopefully with future support of a second video stream.

^ That's what I wanna hear. At this rate, by Holidays 2007, we should see it in the $300 range.

And then it will be "affordable".

Although I am still holding out for the Chinese branded that only cost $50.

Ps3 is still a better option , i read yesterday that is the fastest loading bluray player , and you can use a remote control with it , image quality is at pair with the most expensive sony players

Thats just way to silly of a price to pay

I've always been one of those guys who has patience, waits things out and then gets all the toys.

While all my buddies jump on the "it just came out" bandwagon dish out big money and end up with fewer toys of lesser quality

$600 is still mighty expensive. I think I will have to go thru a late adopter strategy. The piggy bank is all dried up

Of course $600 for a player is too high - but it is better than $1000 - which is an indicator, prices are coming down.

Would anyone consider paying more to get the dual format by LG?

For me, I like to own the movie, so I would probably stick to one single format. Thus will probably get either 1 for less.

its probobly because no one would buy them at $1000. They are probobly making losses on each player just to get people to adopt the technology and are hoping that the price of the technology will decrease

At $1000 BluRay/HD-DVD etc players are flying off the shelves around there - so someone must have bough them all

The same people who are buyign the $6,000 and $7,000 HDTV's perhaps?

Remember, my setup would have cost almost $6000 2 years ago... and people were buying them like crazy then.
