New toy...
heya guys thought this might be kinda cool
i dont know if its in the right section, cause you cant really ride a vortech supercharger
i just aquired this nifty supercharger, capable of 500+ hp
max of 23psi boot with a optimal RPM of 60,000
at 8psi of boost it makes about 200rwhp on a 1.8 liter miata
i plan on running it at 20psi, with a web model 515 cam
should churn out 420hp
anyhows, it gonna go on a miata im fixing to buy

haha it turns out the miata motors are extremely strong
the idea setup is a 99 head, with a 94 bottom end =)
they are derivittives of the once turbo motor in the 323 turbo awd mazda
after building the turbo one i decided to build one for myself cause they were so easy to work on and quite fast lol

you can get a used 94 miata for about 2000 bucks, a head off of a 99 miata run you about 700-900
the supercharger i have goes for about 3500
new clutch/flywheel
bigger injectors
modded ecu or standalone engine management
thats about 350hp
if you can put it together right lol
step it up to forged internals, and a mean cam
and you can run 20-25psi
and then it get s real fun, 420-450hp

working on the engine isn't what concerns me. it's the trial and error in the suspension setup.
yeah you can look at alignment measurents on paper and see what would work, but if the car understeers way too much to feel like you can catch it if it tries to walk on you...thats where my concern somes in. Not that it's hard to change that....just kind of tedious.

yeah the another joy of the miata
the 300hp turbo one, is very catchable
you can get a nice slide in second, and a lil opposite lock
and its caught =)
the limited slip helps alot, but miatas are quite capable of handling loads of power
i speak from mass experience, not what some ppl read lol

nice toy..
OT: but the HKS super filter i had also.. i had to replace it quite often and i know it wasnt trapping dirt like other leading brands.. i can tell from having the foam become black from green inside out.

the previous car i built that was a miata, so with my miata i wanted to take a different route, cause i drive the turbo one everyday
the blower that i have is hated cause the stock pulley that it comes with is a 8psi pulley, and thats out of the effeciency range of the blower, the optimal rpm of the impeller is 60K rpms, and at 8psi it only spins at 45k rpms
so basically im doing to prove all the ninnys on the miata boards that the blower doesnt suck, they just dont know how to use it, which is funny cause the mathmatical formula to get impeller speed is quiet simple
you just multipy 5.25 x crank pulley size x max RPM and divide that number by the blower pulley size
the preliminary dyno runs i have done in desktop dyno show that the blower will perform better than the GT28 turbo that is on the other miata , but that will be a lil different after i install a haltek EMS in the turbo one
=)
