Default THE CANADIAN GP, Montreal - RESULT

Final order - Schuey, Ralf, Montoya, Alonso, Barrichello, Raikkonen, Webber, Panis

Michael Schumacher saw off the challenge of brother Ralf to win a closely-fought Canadian GP.

Schumacher was let off the hook by Williams duo Ralf and Juan Pablo Montoya, who clearly both had quicker cars than the world champion.

A second-lap spin cost Montoya his chance of victory while Ralf again lacked the fight to take on his older brother, sitting behind the Ferrari for almost 50 laps without trying to get past.

The result means that Michael eases into the championship lead for the first time this season.

Title rival Kimi Raikkonen salvaged some points after starting last but a mid-race puncture meant he could do no better than sixth.

Full story to follow…

Well, that wasn't exactly the most interesting races of this year. Tons of attrition for one thing as well as almost no passing (other than on pits).

Montoya screwed up again and probably cost himself a good chance of winning the race.

Villeneuve got screwed again by a brake fluid leak of all things... poor guy.

Alonso was the only really interesting part of this race--he's doing amazingly well given that his car isn't competitive on the straights with the top tier machines. He has a lot of promise for years to come.

The race was like too strategic. Schumi didn't push it because he knew all he had to do was coast to the finish in order to get the points he needed to regain the lead for the driver's championship.

Oh yeah, the weird stuff: wtf was up with the Williams mirrors falling off, Barichello's wing just kinda dying, and Kimi's tire exploding? A lot of freak accidents at this race (although no big crashes).

Yes, not the best race, but not that bad. Interesting the problems with Williams' rear mirrors LOL!

And way to go Alonso!! Some more hp and top teams will have to worry for real!

Although boring it may have been at the end, I thought it was quite nice to see the closest top 4 finish in many years. I think montoya, kimi and alonso are the young knights that are soon going to be taking the honor from micheal. Ralf just proved that he lacks BIG MATCH temperament and is not a winner. I dont see him becoming WDC for many years if ever. Micheal is definitely going to retire before 2006, and eventually become Ferrari Team principle/president..
