PS. I don't know what the critics are banging on about with the 9/11 connection.
|
imo the connection is quite obvious.
and the dude says it in the end "Why is this happening to us?" it seems like they don't deserve this violence and hate and i guess the aim of this movie was to capture the confusion and the fear that people had during the attacks on the WTC.

funny thing, in the movie, when they are up on the roof of the building, you hear someone in the back saying '' ITS A TERRORIST ATTACK!!!!'' .... I guess, the terror on the streets was pretty much the same, when the 9/11 tragedy happened...everyone rushing away from the center of Manhattan, everyone panicking, scared, dirty.....

I saw Atonement and Michael Clayton recently. I thought Atonement was brilliant, but ultimately quite depressing. Michael Clayton was initially a bit dull, but it came together towards the end.

Saw Jumper yesterday. 8/10. It's a decent movie with a good pace. The storyline wasn't the best but it's a good way to kill time. I won't spoil it but the ending appears to leave an opening for a sequel.

It was written to be a trilogy. Whether that will actually happen is still up in the air.
I too saw it and thought it was decent. It wasn't great, but it had enough going on to not be bad either.

Just saw cloverfield. I really liked the fact that Abrams had no respect for the characters, honestly I would've had even less (kill 'em all). Sub plot sucked and was unnecessary, but I guess they needed a reason to stay back. Special effects were amazingly good as I've come to expect from any self respecting production these days. It felt like a dream where really extraordinary events and images seem completely real. Hard to explain, but it felt more real than 99% of the thrillers that have come out lately. And no, not just because of the shaky camera, just something about the way events developed simultaneously and not exclusively from other events. Go see it before it leaves theaters. 8/10

3:10 to Yuma - 1/10
Great visuals, nice atmosphere, Superb acting, BUT the screenplay???? Long period of nearly nothing happening and then unlogical ending, trash...
