Default Dragonball...

Does anyone know if the first episode of Dragonball Z start from the beginning of the Dragonball comic books, or if there is another series before it..?

I'm assuming you know there is a Dragonball series, a Dragonball Z series, and a Dragonball GT series, right? Dragonball being the first series that aired which followed Kakarot as a child.

Kakarot is Goku's real name. (His Saiyan name)

So you have the first series which is Dragonball. The story of Kakarot (Goku) as a child growing up with his Saiyan powers.

Then you have Dragonball Z. Kakarot is now a family man with eventually 2 sons (Gohan and Goten). Following the story of Kakarot's ever increasing Saiyan abilities and his son's too.

Laslty, you have Dragonball GT. Everyone is a little older and a little stronger. There are more crazy battles, more crazy dragons, more Super Saiyan action, and crazy twist here and there.

I used to be a huge DBZ fan.

Thanks... I'm just trying to find the seasons of DB from the start, and didn't know if Dragonball and Dragonball Z was the same. I realize now what I want for now is just the regular DB...
Thanks..

now you have to see if you go for the mangas (the comic books), all the episodes (lots of them), any of the 13 movies (I don't know if new ones exist)

IMO the best series are dragon ball and dragon ball Z. The GT saga was pretty boring and the original author didn't write any of those episodes nor made mangas.
maybe dragonball could be a little bit boring compared with DBZ because the fights have less energy powers, etc.

The thing that blows about the US version is they were slow to get the DBZ episodes. I never got to see the end of the Buu series. I think the last one i saw was the episode before Goku and Vegeta fused.

They had all 3 series running at once, so it got confusing.

I felt Dragonball was just ok, but a necessary watch to understand what is going on. I really enjoyed DragonballZ and the many different epic battles. GT, not so much. It was cool, but didn't have the excitement that Z had.

I really just want to watch the mangas, because the comic books published here in Norway are so slowly published, and I need to see the next chapter..
