Default NBA Playoffs - who is watching it?

http://www.nba.com/playoffs2005/

Hey guys! after the all-star game it was very quiet concerning b-ball...

Who of you is watching the playoffs and which is your favorite?

I am a lakers fan for a long time. So this year....well they didn't play very well...so the players have more time for vacation now...

Sadly it's difficult to see some games live here in Switzerland. On the normal cable stations they only show a summay of the sunday game. otherwise i have to watch pay tv and the abo with sports channels costs about $40 per month....[/img]

I was going to start a topic for this soon also, but you beat me to it
I am following the playoffs very closely, I check the results/reports everyday on ESPN and download a game every couple of days to watch (plus NBA Action every Sunday) We don't get coverage on TV so I have to resort to d/l - but its cool anyway as I can choose which games I want to watch
I am hoping for a Miami v Phoenix final, that would really be an entertaining series. Those are my 2 favourite teams left in the playoffs, although Detroit and San Antonio will be tough to beat if they meet them in the conference finals

On another note what are your thoughts on Steve Nash getting the MVP award the other day? I agree that hes a great player (11.5 apg, best FG% among point gaurds and leading the team with best record) but just don't think he deserved the award - Phoenix has alot of other good players (especially Stoudemire) that contributed this year.
If you look at LeBron James or Shaq (although Wade was great) they were more dominant within their team and therefore more 'valuable' IMO.

i agree, steve really is a good player and it makes fun to watch him play but i also think that they were better players to get the mvp award.

Here are the results of the vote

Player, Team 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Pts
Steve Nash, Phoenix 65 54 7 1 0 1066
Shaquille O'Neal, Miami 58 61 3 3 1 1032
Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas 0 4 43 30 16 349
Tim Duncan, San Antonio 1 0 40 33 19 328
Allen Iverson, Philadelphia 2 4 20 23 23 240
LeBron James, Cleveland 0 0 7 11 25 93

It was very close between steve and shaq, the others were far behind...

My main sport is still the one that has auto- on the start.
thats the same problem I had/have...until komotar led me to a site where I can download any of the playoff games I like

I follow the playoffs....

I hope Miami will advance to the eastern finals and I have a feeling that Detroit will stand in their way.

Wade is one of my fave players from the day he stepped into the league...

Detroit has been picking up the pace trough the whole year and have a serious chance to go all the way.

Phoenix is bursting with energy and they have a bunch of talented players. But if Nash weren't there, I doubt they would be the favorites to get the ring.

And the Spurs are strong as always. As much as I love the suns, I still think the Spurs are the team to beat in the nba. If they would get the ring I would be very happy. Two Slovenians play there. ( nesterovic and udrih ) but they haven't been getting as much time on court as they did during the regular season...

This year was great for slovenian players in the nba. The spurs duo did well. The we have Primoz Brezec playing for the bobcats. His second half of the season was just amazing. He played very well and was part of the starting lineup.

His average jumped from 1.6ppg last year to 13ppg this year.
rebounds from around 1 to 7.4. That's one hell of an improovment if you ask me...

Field goal % went from 46% to 51% and his free throw went up from 66% to 75%.

He once made 18 rebounds. And once scored 27 pts.

Udrih played in the rookie all star game, that was nice to see....

Back to the playoffs. The west is tough to call. Spurs and Phoenix in the finals... Spurs win. If Pho won, I'd still be ok with that, because they deserve it.

East. Det and Mia finaly. Miami advance ( please, please...), but I have a bad feeling Detroit will kill them. That will be a battle of centers and power forwards. Shaq and Zo against Ben, Sheed and Mcdeyess.

Wade will have to step up if Miami will want to go to the finals. And if Damon Jones and Eddie hit their threes....well anything can happen.

On the other side, Detroit has some serious D and can be fast on the break. When Billups and Hamilton + Prince start to run......they are like the Eastern Phoenix suns....one minute hard defense, the other run and gun B-ball. You never know with them.

While with Mia, you know they will try to get wade hot and then go from there....

Shaq will also have to play better....

Again to the west.......if I'm boring you, stop reading...

Phoenix has a good team, but I fear that the Spurs expirience will be an important factor in that finaly battle.... Tim duncan allready won one and a hlaf championchips and knows how to keep calm in crisis situations.

Pho are young and I think they will peak next year. If Nash will be healthy...
I just think they are a bit to young. I'd love them to prove me wrong.

I'd like to see Mia and Pho in the finals. But Sas vs Det sounds more like the better prediction.-

We'll see.

I am a HUGE nba fan. Watched almost every game, except for the ones i missed on shift.

My boys are the Pacers since i started watching basketball. I cheer for Toronto too, but lets be honest, they're basically a Chris Bosh defection away from folding. Anyways, hope Reggie gets his ring but it doesn't look like that will happen. For the sake of basketball i hope its the Suns and Heat in the finals if the pacers don't make it. Hope we get some competitive games in this second round. And oh yeah, props to Nash.

what self-respecting Canadian wouldn't like hockey? I have to admit after spending a month in Vancouver I grew very fond of hockey, especially after seeing it live (go the Canucks!!)
They are on 'strike' this year so thats why Badmihai must be in such a bad mood
