M3 CSL conversions in US?
Ok, late friday afternoon as i was heading towards Los Angeles on I-10, i got passed by a white M3. However, it was much much noisier than your typical M3. I noticed it had a black roof and was badged M3 CSL.
Now i know that the CSL isn't in the states so chances of this being a true CSL are about as high as finding a Leprachaun riding a Unicorn through the streets of Atlantis, but i also know of at least one M3 that had a carbon fiber roof installed along with the CSL headers (which can be obtained in the states for something stupid like 1200 bucks or more).
Does anyone know how many CSL clones are in the states? specifically California, since this car had Cali plates. (which makes me wonder what exhaust system he had on it, since the CSL headers eliminate the Catalytic Converters)

I know a lot have various CSL(esque) parts and such, but as far as a piece for piece CSL clone, I can't say I've ever seen one.
*wonders how expensive something like that would be*
So many parts would be required, it'd be a bit insane... Vavles, cams, intake, wheels, tires, roof, brakes, exhaust, seats. steering wheel, rear window, diffuser, air dam, trunk floor, springs/dampers, control arms, steering rack, and a whole host of other little things, electronics, and computer reprogramming.

well, i only got enough of a look at the back of it to see the badge and notice the roof so i can't really say what it had.
damn thing sounded good though. He must have been doing at least 80 when he shot by (CHP presence was moderate around this part of the freeway)

Black Sapphire was also a colour choice. It's not like you can't repaint them either.

Yeah, you can't even order the parts w/o a CSL VIN. A lot of these guys are running around aftermarket parts and such.

Well, a friend of mine says he has seen a real M3CSL here in Minnesota. It's possible, anything can be imported so long as it never sees public roads.
As for making a clone of one, anything is possible if you have the money.
