Default 997S vs AM Vantage (C&D 3/06)

I just poked through the latest comparo of the 997S to other machinery - namely this month's Car & Driver comparison to the Aston Vantage.
They ranked the Vantage #1 and 997S #2 by a one point difference of 213 to 212.
Not that I really care about 'who wins' but what chaps my ass is how the numbers added up:
997S wins 9 variable "Vehicle" section by 3 points,
997S wins 5 variable "Drivetrain" section by 5 points,
Aston wins 5 variable "Chassis" section by 1 point.

So,...how come the Aston won the comparison????
Because of the subjective "gotta-have-it-factor" (4 points to Aston) and "fun-to-drive factor" (4 points to Aston).
I checked the author of the article and believe it or not it was not Jeremy Clarkson!!!!!!!!!!!

I put the article links on my site:
997S vs Aston

Damn, that Aston is a bit slow compared to the 911...it'd be a tough choice, but I think I'd go with the 911. 8)

Thanks for the scans!

I think it won on pure looks and the fact of that the car will be build in small numbers.... And I have to say that is true the AM Vantage looks better than the 911 but everything eles goes to the 911..

I agree the Aston is a good looker (not that the 997S is any sloucher) and certainly much more exclusive (particularly over here in the US - you never see them),...but, that whole subjective "gotta-have-it" thing just kills me!

Thanks for the scan. I think I still would go for the Aston even if its performance can't really match the 997. I'm just in love with that car

There was also a comparative between the V8, the 997 S and the Maserati Coupé in a french mag and the V8 won despite the fact that the Porsche was better overall. Just a question of feeling ...
