Ferrari F50 GT french scans
...F50 in V12 de F1 prohibits any form of competition, in spite of this very special version. An unfinished project...
This F50 GT was imagined to succeed F40 LM which was at the end of its development for the BPR (future FIA/GT) championship ... its development was carried out by Ferrari and Dallara.
the project taken end brutally, can be that V12 had a handicap of cubic capacity which the presence of brides prevented from using of high revs.
Only two cars were built and, in exchange of a promise not to use them in competition, they were sold to private collectors. One is in the USA and the other in Japan.
And as an hppiness never come alone, we even could test a F40 LM together with this F50.
... it weighs a little more than 1000 kg ... Ferrari is discreet about the power of this F50 ... the max rev climbed from 8600 rpm to 11 000 ...
we can note carbon brakes and a sequential gearbox ...
the sound is acuter than those of the F40 LM ...
We are on the TI-Aida track, and after a few laps the tires begin to warm so i push a little more on the throttle and, immediatly the rev counter panics, jumping from 4000 rpm to 11 000 and touching the limiter.
The torque sensation is enormous and the engine is sharp ... the F50 is nervous and you need to be sensitive to pilot this F50 GT.
By polishing the adjustments we ended up gaining 8 seconds by lap and, in terms of performances, this F50 GT is 10 seconds/lap faster than a F355 Challenge and 12 compared to the F50. ...
The F50 GT is better than the F40 LM in every aspect : in curbs, traction, braking. It is more comfortable to drive and this enable to avoid faults ...

Thanks a lot, Yann. Marvellous car. I hope to see it one day, but the odds of that happening are very slim.
The article is not correct on the number of F50 GTs being built though. In total, five were built, not two. After the project was cancelled, two of the five were disassembled to serve as donors. The remaining three were sold.
