Default Casino Royale (Bond 21)

Gaydon, 16th January 2006
Aston Martin announces James Bond, the legendary British secret agent, will drive one of their models in the next 007 film, “CASINO ROYALE” to be produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for Eon Productions.

Daniel Craig, who will play James Bond in the film, which is due to be released in November 2006 by MGM/Sony, visited the Aston Martin headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire, on Friday to view the featured car. While there he met Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ulrich Bez, and members of the workforce and also took the opportunity to take a short test drive.

In the true tradition of Bond, full details of the car to be used in “CASINO ROYALE” are being kept top secret but the company did confirm that it would be a new model called the Aston Martin DBS.

on a related news...

MI6 exclusively revealed on Saturday that Australian actress Rose Byrne was screentesting for the character of Vesper Lynd and was the hot favourite to land the role, and today the Mail On Sunday has reported the 26 year-old has secured the part.

The report said, "she is set to be unveiled as the next Bond girl after auditions last week for the new film version of Casino Royale. Australian-born Rose, now based in London, was one of four starlets vying to play opposite Daniel Craig as Vesper Lynd, who breaks 007's heart. Her rivals are believed to include Tipping The Velvet star Rachael Stirling - daughter of Diana Rigg, a former Bond girl. The part was turned down by Angelina Jolie and Oscar-winner Charlize Theron. It was Rose's performance as Trojan priestess Briseis in the 2004 epic Troy, where she had a series of steamy love scenes with Pitt, that brought her to the attention of the 007 production team."

From the concept sketch on that site, seems like the DBS will be the most aggressive rendition of the current Ian Callum themed design, with the target set on Ferrari instead of Porsche. Although it's still too early to tell, have to see the final production version first. Since the movie comes in at the end of the year, we should see a prototype in the coming months, hopefully.

Don't see the need for Bond to make use of extra doors in the back so it should be another coupe.

It is not going to be a production model is it?

I am really looking forward to this movie. It won't be a typical Bond film. . .

And the story. . . and what's wrong with that? Ian Fleming wrote some great novels.

This new movie looks promising. The car chases would cover all shortcomings anyway.

At first I thought this could be the replacement od the Vanquish, but now that seems very doubtful since it will be based on the V8 Vantage model, which is too small. on the other hand...the film is due to be released in November 2006...and asfar as I remember the new Vanquish is to show up in 2007...which means the premier of the film would be a perfect "commercial".

And another mystery...the car will obviosuly be handed over to the filming crew for marketing reasons....which means the car may go into production. But if it won't replace the Vanquish then what is the point of having 4 (!!!) 2 door coupes in the line up of such a company. It's totally pointless.

I'm confused

An "insider" has confirmed a lot of different pieces of Casino Royale casting news that have appeared in the press over the past week to movie website AICN.

According to the source, Australian actress Rose Byrne has landed the role of Vesper Lynd in the forthcoming James Bond film. MI6 exclusively revealed in a report last week that Bryne was screentesting.

The AICN report also "confirms":
- French actor Seydina Baldi has been cast as a henchman
- Pop star Seal lost the part of Solari to Baldi
- Italian actress Caterina Murino has been cast as Solonge, Demetrius's girlfriend
- Simon Abkarian has been signed to play villain Demetrius
- Le Chiffre, who was the central villain in Ian Fleming's original 1953 novel, is not in the film

Seal has gone into acting? Well I guess he wants to live a little crazy, in order to survive. Or was that song sung by someone else?

Following Aston Martin's official press release last week confirming that James Bond will drive their latest DBS model in Casino Royale, MI6 can exclusively reveal that 007 will also return to an old friend in the new film.

The classic Aston Martin DB5, which first appeared in Goldfinger (1964) and then Thunderball (1965), will be making a brief return in Casino Royale. Devoid of its original Q-Branch gadgetry, the DB5 will be used as Bond's personal car, much like it's appearance in GoldenEye (1995) and Tomorrow Never Dies (1997).

MI6 can reveal that two original DB5's are being shipped to the Bahamas where location shooting with Daniel Craig is expected to commence in one month's time.
