Default Best Digi Cam

Whats the best Digi cam from the 150-350 dollar price range, cant really convert that into Euro, or pound right now, so how about from 3.2 mp - 4.1 or 4.5? My B-Day is coming up in 18 days now, so im looking for a digi cam.

This should probably be in the computers section, where there are already a few threads discussing digi camera's.
I have a Fuji A607, which is great for my needs (car sightings.... ).

you use your camera to pick up chicks do you?
Having no optical zoom is no good, I only have 3x but its better than nothing....and 10x digital zoom but never use it.
How much did that camera cost you?

I'd snoop around ebay.com and see what you can get. Optical zoom is nice, bur image quality is more important. Stopped looking for cams a while ago, but see if you can find a Fuji S5000 or perhaps S304 if 5k is too expensive. On a buget, I'd say these are about as good as it gets - good lens, nice warm Fuji colors, extremely easy to take good shots with.

If you turn around and decide to spend more, don't pussyfoot and get a prosumer - save and get a nice used 300d or D70 if you can afford it. I've had a sucession of prosumer cams the last few years - Minolta D7, D7HI, Fuji S7K - all good but they completely pale into insignificance compared to my D70 w/18-70 kit lens and 70-200 f2.8. At the raceway I can now actually take the shot I want to take, not just snap away like mad hoping to catch it

Canon....thats my favorite. I would take the all new Canon Powershot A95 5Mpix with flipscreen and AA batteries compatible . Cheapest places have it for around 350$

Perhaps look for a superceded model (such as the Canon A80/A85, or Canon IXUS/ELPH400) It would be cheaper.

i went for the Pentax Optio S4 (limited edition black!) 4mp.
almost went with beaver and the canon ixus i, but was convinced by the 3x optical zoom - i love my optical zoom
256mb mem card too. can store 200-odd photos at 1600x1200 on lowest compression/highest quality.
good enough for me!
oh and they threw in an extra battery! bonus!
it's great having such a tiny camera for a change. genuine take-anywhere.
