Default 5th Gear - S11 EP3 - 14th May, 2007 - Discussion

This week, Tiff Needell employs the help of two beautiful models to test the theory that the quicker you drive a convertible, the less your hair blows about. He blasts the brand new Bentley Continental GTC up to 150mph on an airfield, and nearly runs out of runway...

Elsewhere, Virgin Radio Breakfast Show DJ Christian O’Connell is challenged to perform a stunt-driving routine, after some expert tuition from world famous precision driver Russ Swift. All does not go according to plan, however, as Christian loses his no claims bonus – several times over.

Tom Ford plays in the amazing new Lexus LS460 – a car so clever it can drive itself. He tests its latest gadgets, which steer the car automatically between the white lines of a motorway. Combined with cruise control, it means you literally don’t have to touch any controls.

In Driven to Destruction, we find out how much abuse a windscreen can take. Borrowing techniques used by the aerospace industry, frozen chickens are fired at a selection of windscreens with some surprising results.

The new Smart Fortwo is supposedly more comfortable than ever before and better suited to long journeys, so Jonny Smith locks himself inside one for 12 hours. It’s an extreme test of comfort – but will he cope?

Also this week, Vicki Butler-Henderson finds out the secrets behind the cult movie ‘C’etait un Rendezvous’ – a nine-minute film of a Ferrari hurtling through the streets of Paris. With Snow Patrol using it as the promotional video for their single ‘Open Your Eyes’, Vicki visits the very route where the film was made to have a go at making
her own version.

Continental GTC... meh

12 hrs in a Smart... where have I seen that before?

Well, maybe they are not very imaginative, but they test more cars in one episode than Top Gear in a whole season.

Rip off of top gear, 1.) the bently GTC, top gear did this with wigs. 2.) 12hrs in a smart, richard and james for 24hrs.

the only part that might be ok is hairy.

thats just sad

The only reason I (sometimes) watch Fifth Gear is for Tom Ford. He's a friggin' riot! Oh, and he also writes for the "other magazine."

Fifth Gear is gettin' pretty poor .. I wonder when they're going to stage a crash at 100 mph with Jason at the wheel...

Oh no! It not just seems to be a typically boring episode once again, but they also start ripping off Top Gear again. That´s just poor

ok, just seen it and here goes the review

it.... was.... rubbish

the Lexus review would of been nice if it was longer and didn't feature the older car. The only interesting part of that entire feature was the Aston Martin in the background.

The smart thing was too much TG

the "celeb" thing was yawn.. FF

VBH drive through Paris was again YAWN

and as for Tiff, great semi-review but if only it was at least 6 or 7 min longer.

Definitely the most boring episode of the season. Those models in the bently were damn sexy though.

Glad to hear Tiff really is top of the food chain over there, that show would be nothing with out him.
