Default Spielberg to create games?

Spielberg is to participate on developnet of 3 new computer games for Electronic Arts... he is supposed to add the orginality to the current "sequels only" production line of EA .

What do you think?

Yeah it will be interesting but the trouble with games in general is that everything has been thought of already, so what gets on the shelves now is generally better (in terms of graphics etc) versions of what we played on our C64s and then Amigas, and now PC/PS2/Xboxes...

Some of my favourites got released yonks ago:

Civilization
Diablo
Frontier (Elite 2)
Test Drive 1 (crap on PC, ok on Amiga though - this was 1988 lol - showing my age!)
Baldurs Gate 1
Tomb Raider 1

the same thing is going on with movies too... its like they are all B movies these days with big budgets; every comic book movie is a B movie, every sequal, remake, modern book-movie transition, Game to movie. they are all out of originality.

so im not sure if it'll help whatsoever

my personal favorites:
the Ledgend of Zelda
Command and Conquer, and Red Alert
Final Fantasy III
Halo
Mortal Kombat II
NFS Porsche Unleashed

That is just so untrue...there are original games being released all the time...for some recent examples, look at Fahrenheit(Indigo Prophecy in the US) or Black and White. How about The Sims? Sure there's a lot of trash, but you have to filter it out.

This goes for movies as well. Sure you get stuff like Elektra and whatever Mandy Moore is doing this week, but you also get stuff like Schultze Gets the Blues. There's good stuff everywhere, and people who say there's nothing new just haven't tried hard enough
