With only 600 USD you won't get much and indeed, the only one that could be in your range is the D50. Don't know which is the stock lense for it, but it it's the same as the D70, it's a good one. If you want to go for Canon's 350D you'll need to plan more money and also, the stock lense suck ass... so even more money to buy a proper one

^^ i agree save up till you get $1000-1200 in your piggie bank and buy a EOS Rebel or D70 with a decent lense

If u really insist on buying a $600 SLR

http://www.prestigecamera.com/product~id~nkd50kit3.htm

but I strongly suggest u reconsider, I also believe that 350D is a better choice if u not planning on upgrading for a bit of time.

That is a pretty tough choice, but with $600 you are unfortunately quite limited on your choices. As many others have stated, the D50 is probably the only camera available in your price range, but it may be a worthwhile thing to wait and save up a little more money for the 350D. Trust me, instead of buying the regular digital rebel, I waited and bought the 20D later on. I could not be happier!

You can't go wrong with a Canon!

I looked up prices and saw that the 350D is in the 700-800 range..

I'm willing the cough up the extra loot for something with the latest technology..

What would be a good all around lens to get with it since the lens that comes with it sucks?

well... just for my own reference...
i wont buy a lens that cost less then $800... and its more likely that i'd spend more...

i didnt think the quality was there til i saw the difference myself...

i will say this, however... for an extra $100 you will have a lens that works ok... but you'll be wanting to upgrade badly before too long.

Thanks to all you guys for your suggestions and recommendations..

I will most likely go with a 350D unless I can get a ridiculous deal on something else..

It may sound ridiculous to spend over $800 dollars on a lens, but soon after you purchase your budget lens you will wish you spent money on the more expensive version. Trust me, i've made the mistake and you literally 'pay' for it.
