There is no link whatsoever Tiff and Jeremy worked together in the "previous" TG... then it stopped and that's when Vicki and Tiff moved to another TV channel (Channel 5), and started 5th Gear... as for the BBC, they created the "new" Top Gear and got Jeremy for it

Oh, and since this answer was given several times, I am sure a good search could have helped

I think the word "GEAR" in both names make some ppl confused, myself included in the begining.

And of course a bit of a dig at the BBC who had just scrapped TG sacking Tiff, Viks, Quentin etc

As far as I know they stopped airing Top gear for sometime and that is when Tiff became a 5th gear presenter. Then the BBC decided to bring back Top gear and they reemployed Clarkson. That is how their careers seperatated as far as I know.

Personally, I think Tiff's excellent driving skills would be best appreciated on topgear, I think when his contract runs out, BBC should grab him from channel five, then we can see some quality driving! Big mouth jeremy is ok dont get me wrong, but Tiff is far better at taking a car to its limits. also we cant forget Viki!

Leave quintin and james to channel5
