well... i've been figuring that since there are absolutely 0 proper porsches in the game, and i wonder how GT4 would interpret the 996 GT3 RSR...
some important charactaristics:
996 GT3 RSR---------Ruf RGT (GT4)
1115 kg-------------->1130 kg (3 stage weight reduction)
445 bhp-------------->445 bhp (tuned w/out oil change--451 with)
racing tires----------> racing medium
racing brakes---------> racing brakes
roll cage--------------> roll cage.
etc.
so basically, you can get it pretty close... but w/out ajustable wing and front spoiler.
so i played with the suspension... and the car either oversteers uncontrollably, or understeers too much... so i opted for the closest to neutral i could, so still understeery. so it means you have to plant yourself on the right line a bit ahead of time... otherwise your going 10+ mph too slow. it also lacks the torque that would be needed to send it out of control if you gass it too hard in a corners' exit... instead, the steady power will correct sometimes killer oversteer
naturally, i took my "RSR" to the Nurburgring and the car definately needs a more softly sprung suspension, otherwise the bumps get the best of you w/out any simulated d/f. it feels more proper
a lighter/more powerful GT3 cant be a bad thing... it feels soooo much more predictable then the NSX-R...even when similar modifications are made :shock:
so, i think i've gotten myself within 4 seconds of me concidering the lap good, and 8-10 seconds from as good as i could be, if you took each sector individually that ive done perfect... but still, im pleased with a 6:49.898...
i wonder how a real RSR would do on the ring ??
so now that i've tuned her... i start hot lapping it. with 445 hp, and 1130 kg, this feels more like a nice simulated race car...
Edit:
so i've been trying to look up NS times for the RSR and heres what i got
8:53.871 (ring plus F1 track) [24 h of nurburgring]
2:01. 68 (F1 track) [1000km of nurburgring]
so extrapolating... a 6:52 would be a pretty fast time... and remarkably close to my 6:49 :shock: very interesting, i say :idea:
