Default Mazda 6 (Turbo Charged)

From Canadiandriver.com

Unlike other Mazda6 models, which are assembled in the US, the Mazdaspeed 6 will be built in Japan. Its 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine is turbocharged and uses direct fuel injection to make 280 horsepower and 280 pounds-feet of torque.

With acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 6.6 seconds, power will be available low in the rev-range, a feature important in the North American market, according to Mazda, and the car comes only with a six-speed manual transmission.

Expect the Mazdaspeed 6 in March/April 2005, and pricing for it and the Mazda5 to be announced closer to launch date

WHAAAAA??!!! Mexico?? Since when? I only heard about rust problems, and have always assumed that they are built in US. All you have to do now is trades yours in for a Jap-built model. I believe the Mazda6 do holds its value pretty well.

Lets see.. recalls so far
rust.. or as they called it "staining.. on the inside of the doors under the weather stripping.

Fuel kneck replace.. cause of gas smell occuring on some cars.

Latest, i need to do in next few weeks.. rewelding of the front fans, which have some problem with improper welding to the structure.

Im not unhappy with it, but im 99 percent sure its put together in mexico in fords plant there.. that being said, I looked at a left over 2004 gto today, so who knows if Ive gone off the deep end.

I stand corrected on manufacturing plants.
The car is made in flat rock..the engine.. specifically the 2.3 that I dont have.. is from mexico.

Source, my car and then the mazda6 club.

I think they should make it a AWD, and take on the Impreza and Evo, I just think it has that look, anyone els think so?

I've clocked my Mazda 6 at about 7 flat for the 0-60, so hopefully the MS M6 will do it in about 5.8 - 6.0.

No, the car is way too big. Also i think this is a lame choice in engines, they already put this in the mazda speed protege/5. I want the 6 cylinder turboed.

Also i think it will do 0-60 in about 6.6 seconds as it says in the article.

There's one thing which I don't understand. 280hp: 0-60mph in 6.6 sec ?? That's too slow. I will await the roadtests magazines for other results.

^^^^ This is a FWD car (I think) not AWD like the Mitsu Evo and the Sub WRX.

It is AWD (I've looked under it and technical data also says so).

Schwalbe, it is 0-100km so it's more like 6.2~3 for 0-60.

Have to disagree with you there graywolf...one of the last projects my dad worked on at Ford/Mazda before he retired was the 6...it's built in the Flat Rock, Michigan plant where the Probe, Mazda MX-6 and 626 were built before it. I can't believe those performance claims either...turboed 280bhp and 280lb-ft ought to make it more than 1/10 of a second quicker than the 3.0 (0-62mph in 6.67 seconds). I'd expect high fives if not even quicker...but who knows with all the extra 4wd hardware.
