"Young kids with expensive cars... Any questions?"
this is the stupidest comment i have heard yet in this thread
so what he has a expensive car. so what if he didnt pay for it. He didnt cause the accident. He was the victim.
i myself have owned many "expensive cars" and the same goes for most of my friends. we have yet to do something "stupid" and total them, or not take car of them, or be undeserving of what we are very fortunate to have, and are very thankful for our good fortune. the fact that he is a member here obviously shows his enthusiasm for his vehicle, as well as his familys (his father reccommended another porsche) so i say more power to him, i wish we were all as fortunate.
i would ask that you refrain from "generalized" and "envious" comments like this. this makes it seem like you are a asshole, and your really not. your statement makes it sound like hes just some pompous jackass richkid when the guy seems to be very nice.
"I paid for my car, and I didnt wreck it.. No words needed."
who pays for the car has absolutey no effect on it being wrecked. it would have happened if he was in a 500 dollar car. once agian, this is a stupid comment. you could very well be going to work tommorow and have someone do the same thing to you, but none of us would make a asshole comment about the misfortune of a car wreck.
those post are just another example of people who cannot accept the fact some people have better fortune in life then others, and when it presents itself, they have to "attack" that person. its really quite lame.

It has nothing to do with envious or dont like people more fortunate.
First, the kids experience contributed. He clearly saw the person stop in the middle of the U turn. Defensive driving teaches that you should slow down when you see a situation like this ahead. (was it his fault, no.. But experience would make him handle the situation better. Until he has that experience parents shouldnt provide him with a high hp car).
Second, it has nothing to do with envious.. Im not envious.. I couldnt care if I had a billion dollars, no kid should have a car like that before 20.. and they should pay for their first car to learn the value of the dollar.. Its nothing to do with whether hes a nice guy and everything to do with what I feel is the wrong way to raise a kid.. Im entitled to feel that way..
I'm also entitled to say it.. Period.. It isnt an attack.. It isnt jealousy.. Its the fact that I whole heartedly disagree with the action of his parents.. Perhaps I should have kept my mouth shut, but as you recall Ive said the same thing before in other threads where young people claimed they owned ultra expensive high hp cars.
edit: Brembo, if it were really jealousy Id be a liberal or be jealous of your cars or Jabbas or something.. Im not.

You know, that's a lot of parenting advice from a guy who's 24. I wonder how na2o's parents would feel to know that they are being criticised by some 24 year old punk from the US. They are entitled to buy their kid whatever they want to, and you have no right to pass judgement. It was also clearly the other person's fault in this case, so age or car make has no bearing

basically u are saying.... when u see someone on teh street that look young and maybe under the age of 20 that drive a pretty quick car, u are thinking.. mother fuckers.. u dont deserve or able to drive that sucker? whos says that when ur parent buy u a car, u dont value the money??? yes... alot of kids are spoiled and dont value money,, but not all

I am a parent first off..
I also have a right to make a comment on my personal beliefs as much as anyone else. Entitled and what I think of them are two seperate things.. There parents will buy them what they want and it isnt my right to stop them, but I can voice my beliefs with respect to it.
But I guess everyone here thinks I shouldnt have a right to state this belief.. So whatever.. Backoff and quit with the personal attacks.

Actually no.. Im saying driving ability is gained with experience period. A 16-20 year old doesnt have the driving experience to have the ability necessary to handle it unless maybe hes been racing cars his entire life... Considering how rare it is, I sincerely doubt it. The majority of accidents occur in first 5 years...

"I also have a right to make a comment on my personal beliefs as much as anyone else."
"But I guess everyone here thinks I shouldnt have a right to state this belief.. So whatever.."
then you should at least do it in a non degrading, none hateful and assuming nature like most of us, and maybe think about making your comments a little less confrontational and a little more sympathetic towards the fact the kid was in a pretty bad accident and walked away unscathed.
"Actually no.. Im saying driving ability is gained with experience period. this is an assumption made on "statistical" data taken from a very small percentage of the population. Given the fact most people from families are enthusiast familys get quite a bit better teaching, and aquire alot more experience then most people. Having a father who raced cars/built cars/and drove them to the limit, i had prolly the best driver instruction someone could ask for, and it started very very early (since i was 10 or 11) and i have yet to have a accident of any variety being my fault.
"Its the fact that I whole heartedly disagree with the action of his parents"
so your saying if when you kid was old enough to drive, and had the maturity and the respect, and ability to handle a car like a porsche (and you had the financial means) you would not give your child what you thought was best or what he/she deserved? i know a ton of kids who got pretty high end cars from their parents for first cars (audi S4, VR4 3000gt, porsche boxsters, s2000, etc etc) and they did just fine with them. you cannot condem someone based on a "statistic"
anyhows enough of this,
back to the topic?
