Default The 24 Hours of Daytona

The Rolex Sports Car Series is running the 24 Hours of Daytona right now. I watched much of the coverage on Speed and Fox. Anyone else following it? I'm cheering for the #99 Gainsco Pontiac. In GT, I just cheer for whichever Pontiac is doing the best. I miss the old TRG GTO-R days.

I understand the prototype cars are ugly for safety reasons. A shame.

Yes/ No. LMS were testing a new design of LMP cars. The initial designs were very similar wide cockpits, with short overhangs similar to the Rolex Prototypes.

Some of the LMS prototype designs coming up are really the best since the WSC/ IMSA Group C ended.... the diesel Frenchie showed us that a few times last year in ALMS (when they showed up for Sebring for example).

Thankfully, the wide cockpit is not currently being exported into other series. They are ugly.

Was in Chip Ganassi's pit watching the last 40 minutes of the race... shame Montoya had no chance to pass. Probably the most exciting 24hr Rolex yet..

I couldn't agree more. Last year's Le Mans was just pornography for me. There were so pretty closed cockpit prototypes everywhere... But we won't see anything too drastically different though. ACO has a lock on radical design changes for the next few years.
