Peugeot 106 GTi vs Citroën Saxo VTS 16v
I love both cars and the last Jeremy Clarckson video brought the an old thought back to me. Wich is best ... The cars really are very simular, they cost the same, the interior is small, they weigh the same (about 930kilo), they have the same 1.6 120hp engine and both cars get good reviews from car journalists. JC allways mentiones the 106, but the Saxo is very much alike and I would like to know if someone has driven both cars and could tell me the differences and wich he likes more. The Saxo vts is quite common, the 106 GTi is more rare so I think I like the last one more, just because I don't see it all the time.
the 106
2 saxo's (with non standard alloy wheels)

Well, here in Switzerland both cars are 50/50 as rarity.. I only drove the S16, never a VTS...
I know the cars are similar in every aspect, but as far as I know, the S16 always got better reviews.. basically because the 106 is more driver friendly, while the Citroen needs more concentration to stay on the road..
But as you said, they're twin, so no big deal...
As for the look, with the latest face lift for the Saxo, the 106 is my fav, but very close battle..
Basically, when I bought my 106 (1.4), I was battled between it and the Saxo 1.4, then choose the 106 because the position of the license place (back) was not in the hatch, but in the bumper

I thought to post some times (they are the same for both cars):
400meter (about 1200 feet): 15,8 seconds
they same distance with other cars:
Vauxhall Corsa 1.8 GSi (125hp): 16,7sec
BMW 325 Ci Cabrio (192hp): 16,6sec
Chrysler 300M 3.5 (254hp): 16,2sec
Jaguar XK8(294hp): 15,1sec
So you see, it is quite fast a lower speeds (<140km/h). Off course at higher speeds it is outclassed by many of the cars above, because of it's small engine but in normal life, you don't get that often above those speeds unless you have an empty road.

On normal life, on a B road, many cars would struggle to keep the pace of a 106/saxo 16v... and I mean "MANY"

both are great cars, and are very very very similar, only thing different is the manufacturers badge, from were i am the most common one is the saxo,by far,the saxo vts is also much cheaper here aswell, and for modifying the saxo also has many more parts available,i have no idea y people go towards the saxo.i have heard also that the vts is faster than the 106,the top speed of the vts is around 135 and the 106 is 125.
both cars are great for country road runs, they can out handle a lot of the bigger more expensive cars such as bimmers and jags and the great one that i love doin is mercs, obviously not the AMG ones but all the others.
with owning the vts's little brother with 90hp the handlin is fantastic and obviously the vts and 106 will be the same, but doin it faster.
also they are fast little economical cars,my dad borrowed the car the other day to drop sum stuff off a few hours away,he came bak and he had filled the car up to the top.im down to half a tank left now and i have done 181 miles from half a tank, beat that all u with BMW's,ferraris, lambos, vettes

well, im in the club too.....owning one of these cars.
But im more in Gis's club, owning a little brother.
I have 106 XSI 1.4 100bhp.
Obviously its a uni car, im still young and have no no-claims....so its an ideal car. Handles sweet (lowered, wide tyres) i cant complain.
Accept for the fact i could do with an extra 30/40 bhp, just to make it a bit nicer.
Out of the battle between the two, i prefer the 106 GTI, not because i have one, but i have been in both, driven fast. I had a friend with a red VTS.. which was sweet, slightly non standard. And i have a friend with a black 106 gti, and that thing pulls and handles.
you always hear good things about the handling of these cars and its true.
But i always wanted a car that would match them, even pull them......
205 1.9 GTI
you konw it!!! I have been in an increadibly fast one, and i wanted one for about 2 years after that. Id still love to buy one just for a bit, but most of them are battered, have to have time and money to get a good one.
Anyone else like or have had or have driven one???

the 1.9 205 gti is awesome, pretty fast car for a 1.9 FWD car,id like to own one myself, but if i was goin to own a car from that age id get a mk2 golf gti 16v,those 2 cars are pretty much the same performance and both handle great, but again, its the same as the 205 gti, pretty dam hard to find one with decent mileage and thats not been thrashed.i dunno if its the same were u live GAT,but young lads, actually between mine and your age just get them, dont insure them, and just thrash them to death,it makes me sick seein that.
and they also did the 1.6 gti in the 205 like the golf did the 8v gti.both awesome cars

I once had a drive in a Ford Fiesta 1.6 turbo 130hp and I must say I was quite impressed with the performance. Handling and power was excellent BUT Ford was stupid enough to fit it with pretty shitty brakes. Only 2 disc brakes at the front. The Mark VW Golf Mk I & II GTi are famous for their performance, my uncle just told me he had one 10 years ago and he said even when he compares it to his 330Ci it still is impressive. But finding a good old GTi is very hard ... most aren't in a very good state.
If I had to choose one old small sporty car I would still go for the Mini Cooper S

The difference between the Pug and the Citroen is very little....for instance ive heard that the citroen requires a bit of attention,,...but just a little....and ive got some evidence that the pug is a bit more expensive than the citroen because of the better built quality of the pug.....at the end of the day......both cars are very similar that its really difficult to make differences between the cars
