Mazda Ibuki two-seat sports car concept
MAZDA IBUKI TWO-SEAT SPORTS CAR CONCEPT UNVEILED AT 2003 TOKYO MOTOR SHOW
Mazda unveils a radical two-seat sports car concept - the Mazda Ibuki - at the 2003 Tokyo Motor Show next week. The world premiere of the Mazda Ibuki concept will reveal an open-top, lightweight sports car that hints at a possible design and technology direction of a future Mazda roadster.
The name Ibuki comes from a Japanese word meaning "breathing new energy into" and "adding vigour" reflecting Mazda’s 1989 sports car origins in a simple and clean design.
Powered by a MZR 1.6-litre, four-cylinder engine, the Mazda Ibuki concept has a front-midship layout, as found in the Mazda RX-8, that places all major components within the wheelbase. Thanks to this layout yaw inertia moment has been greatly reduced and straight-line handling has been greatly improved, enhancing the pure fun and driveability and emphasising the connection between car and driver that has been central to Mazda’s ongoing success.

Hmmm.. I dont like the body style.. It looks ugly and the body is 2 smooth..
The only good thing is the rimss... They look pretty good..
Especially the headlights are disgusting.. Couldnt they find a better shape?
Tnx for the info dude..

The front of the car resembles the old MX5, but I don't like it. It lacks grace and looks too much like a toy car or something out of a cartoon. The idea of a small convertible to replace the MX5 appeals to me though. The mid-front layout is good too.

I agree with the above
they certainly could have done better...it looks like a car a female animé character would drive... I do also like the wheels, very nice

Is it just me or the car looks like a cheap plastic toy car enlarged 30x?

I think the car is very nice. And the color helps a lot. It looks very small, but...the MX-5 isn't very big...LOL

If I didn't know any better, I'd be tempted to say someone tried to polish their MX-5 with a belt sander, and didn't realize it until he lost 50 pounds off the car's body.

I don’t particularly like it. The top of the hood and trunk is too flat. Doesn’t have the continual smoothness/lines from front to rear. I do like the way they integrated the exhaust into part of the bumper and the Mazda insignia as part of the brake lighting.

Not one of my favorites, actually closer to being one of the worst. Too many people have the miatas so that car has lost any special feel to it if it ever had one. Now, with this new model, I think it lost everything including respect.

As a designing project, I like it!! It has many new styling features and some are probably adapted in production cars in the future.
As a car to buy ... not really my kinda thing
