At the time it was written (1948) it was quite ahead of its time you could say! Conspiracy theory about Big Brother and the "Thought Police", a sort of inverted-Utopia where everyone did live in "peace" but without any personal freedom or rights.....hmmm maybe we can relate to a few things then!!!

On a different note: Tim Robbins interpreted "1984" for the Theatre a couple of yrs back.....not sure if the show is still on anywhere around the world. I had the pleasure of meeting the big man (I'm 6ft1 and felt small when stood next to him!) and seeing the play here in Athens in April 2006....very well made and stuck true to the original book with a few "new age" add ins.....very good production which lifted Robbins high in my personal book!
