Default F1 Themed Park in Dubai

One of Dubai’s leading property investment developers has won the exclusive rights to build several F1 inspired theme parks around the globe. The first of which is expected to open its doors in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. There’s already a full construction team in place, ready to start next month for the scheduled launch in early 2009.

The CEO of Dubai’s Union Properties, Simon Azzam, met with F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone in London on Thursday to sign over the agreements. The location of a second theme park is still undecided with Ecclestone commenting that “together [Union Properties & the F1 Administration] we will see where our next F1 theme park will be.”

Concept sketches of the proposed theme park reveal roller coaster and go-kart style tracks in addition to numerous retail sites and most likely a hotel. Of course, there’s also the mandatory racing circuit.

well, if they have some true highspeed rides, and some slower ones for kids and then some pit crew challenges. etc. that would be nice.

^but dani is right, there are much more people going to Disnyland than on a circuit-F1-themepark ...you can basically skip half the population (all females )

This looks more or less like an upscale go-kart place. We have a ton around here, just not that fancy. It looks like they plan on having F1 races there, which would be kinda cool while youre at a race for the kids/mom/whoever doesnt care so much for the race, to have something to do. I wonder if the track would be open to the public as well

I think more than one would be pushing it on the profitability scale. F1 is a fairly niche market where theme parks are concerned.

Still, this is promising. I'd be interested to know the details of what's included in the park.

Haha! A sort of stress-relief game. "Punch Alonso and win prizes! The more you punch, the more expensive the prizes get!"
