You might be right about that, maybe he wasn't in the Casino Royale book :bah:
Well remember their "back to the basics" approach. And I must say it worked really well in this movie. Craig said that doesn't mean they won't do more gadgets and what not in the future, but he said it just didn't fit into this movie with the gadgets, it would've distracted. And I agree.

Dani - that torture scene was right out from the book. I thought it was grueling to watch. . .

Definitely the best Bond since Golden Eye (same director).

I just saw the movie tonight, late - I know, but I thought it was great.

The only reason I'm posting this - besides the fact that I want to keep you all up to date with my personal life - Is the following:

I found it interesting that the prototype jet that Bond saves in the first 1/3 or so of the film resembled the "747" that 5th Gear pulled with the Volkswagen Touareg. It seemed to be a computer modified 747 with that strange 2x2 jet engine pattern + auxiliary fuel tanks..

dunno if that's important or not, but perhaps the jet from 5th gear was a model for the jet in the film.

He wasn't suppose to be "Bondish" anyways. Remember, this was the beginning on Bond, the first book in Ian Fleming's novels.

For me, easily 8 out of 10, if not 9 out of 10.
Thats right this is the first book and you get to learn how he became the bond we know already. Crais was an awesome bond! :good:

Action of the non cgi kind, funny dialog and not just slap stick one liners ALL the time, hot bond women who were natural beauties and damn that torture scene had my legs clenching just thinkin about it

Def a 9 out of 10 for me too.

Very good movie, just watched it last night, the best from the recent ones for sure.
He is more human yet still a 007 and Eva Green is very beautiful.

Spoilers

To bad the Aston gets fucked quite soon.

Yeah, I posted about that back in the 5th Gear thread about the 747 in that configuration, I have never seen it before.

Maybe it is just a mock-up and not a real flyer?

I just saw the movie. Im not really sure if I liked it or not yet. As just a movie, it was alright, but as a Bond film, I dont think it was that great. The movie centered too much around Bond's emotions showing that he was penetrable when Bond shouldnt be IMO.

It was a decent movie, but not a good Bond movie, if that makes any sense.

I think thats why the movie is so good. He is no longer a superhero but at the same time he is still James Bond.

It is nice that they tried something different this time around, but honestly, I found myself bored with it a couple of times. There was way too much poker and the main plot wasn't really any kind of mastermind scheme at all, just dirty money changing hands. There was no Q or anything like it also. There are a ton of movies out there that involve the "troubled" action hero that is also an average type of person. Its not like you go see a Jet Li movie to watch Li fall in love, you know?

It wasn't a bad movie per se, but I felt disappointed in a way after it was over. It felt like I watched a decent action/drama movie, not a Bond movie.

Well, I kind of like that they're trying to change the very idea of what a Bond movie is supposed to be. I mean. Casino Royale was the first Ian Fleming book, so in a sense, Casino Royale should be what all Bond movies should have been in the first place.

Besides, some existing Bond movies were jokes, especially Die Another Day. I didn't think I was watching a Bond movie during that, honestly, but felt more like watching another Austin Powers movie. Halle Berry? Come on. Least attractive Bond girl ever. The other one was the fattest one ever too.

Anyways. It was a very good movie and a good Bond movie too. It's kind of sad that people would go to see a Bond movie for silly gadgets and farcical plots. Hopefully new ones can change that.

I still think Halle Berry is hot and her body is damn nice, but to each their own.

Thats not why I go to see Bond movies. But for as long as I can remember, Q has been in every Bond movie I have ever seen as well as plots of world domination. I admit that I dont think I have seen every Bond movie ever and I havent read any of the books but this movie didnt follow the norm of the ones I have seen which I would wager is the majority, which is why it didnt feel like a Bond movie to me.

Like I said, I didnt think it was bad, it just ended up being a lot different than I thought it would be. And there was still way too much poker and cheesy romance for my liking.
